Engine cover

Mine is April 22, so that's why my order matches, part's guy had to check via vin no. and confirm prior ordering so the 06Q103925L is the right cover for my engine/build date. Haven't had the time to go by and fit it, Thursday most probably. I'm curious to see if there is any difference on soundproofing , eventhough don't have any complaints apart from the tire noise.
In addition, just spoke with the service manager, to see if I am to get it fee of charge, who was not aware of a replacement order, he is aware of the 10H7 recall though but not of a replacement order. I told him that dealers in UK have started replacing the cover under warranty/cost free, gave him the part no and my order to check, he said If I wanted to get it I had to buy it and would be responsible if for any reason it would come undone and catch fire, I told him that if that's the case then Cupra should be responsible and liable for selling parts that are fire hazards and they would be sued for such and he then changed attitude and said to give him some time to check the whole issue himself and get back to me!

I received an answer from Cupra Sweden now, and I translate; ”The recommendation from our technical specialists is not to replace the engine cover installed from factory with another engine cover”.
That’s not really an answer.
I asked if the ”L” cover is replacing the ”K” cover and if not, is there a plan to produce a ”K”-cover replacement.

I have asked them to clarify.

Today I finally got the time to go and get the cover, its the L version as ordered, wasn't easy to fit it, there are no visible inserts so I just placed it where it should be and then pressed it hard all around and seemed to lock in place, doesn't seem to get easily undone. However, as it is not bolted it makes me a bit worried, now that I've seen how it fits, considered the main reason for the recall and dumped from factory was that it could come undone under some special conditions and I fully understand it now. Will have to keep an eye on it! Who would have though of that !!

This has been the normal way the engine covers have fitted for as long as I can remember.
At least since 2013 when the Mk3 leon was released with the 2.0tsi motor fitted.

Cupra Sweden returned to me today after they checked with the factory. The answer is that there’s no replacement available. I asked about the L version as mine is the K version. I have the 310hp engine.

DEANO, that may be right but I l think that covers were made of hardened durable plastic, which snuggly fits and stays in place and not of this compressed foam which can easily come undone being very flexible. Then again, hopefully it will never come undone!

So I ordered the L version of the engine cover and tried it out on my VZ310 2021. Fits perfectly.

I pressed the mounting points very firmly and they click into place. No way this thing is coming off while driving, impossible with the force you need to get it off.

Update on mine, just as Vissa, no issues at all after fitting it a couple of weeks ago, checked it today and still firmly in place, no way to get loose or undone no matter what unless I do it my self.

I would be surprised if you could order one through the dealer, cause this it NOT an updated version yet for this particular engine. They would still have to remove the cover if they see one.

Yes, make sure you order by your VIN number, this is what I've done, but I'm sure they will also ask for it.

It s odd if they do that since they sell them, if it was a risk they should have never put them up for sale to begin with. Yet, the service manager from the dealer I got it from told me not to put it on, however since they are selling them I believe they are fully responsible, if anything happens. If they wanted us not to put them on they simply should not have made them available and sell them or if they do sell them they should have provided us with written instructions/warning to not use them for whatever reason. Since they do not do either I feel they are responsible for whatever happens, although I believe nothing will ever happen. No matter what I prefer to look at my engine bay with the cover on, although its kind of generic and not personalized to the car, as without it it looks like unfinished business from factory.

I too want a cover for my engine as it was supplied new without it. The dealer said when they fix the (coming loose) problem they will contact me to get a new cover fitted. I don't have to order it nor will I be charged for it. As for the dealer being responsible because of selling it, is it not the case that speed detectors are illegal in this country to use but legal for dealers to sell them.

Yes, I agree, but in the package you get with the speed detector I'm sure they include a note saying that its conditionally illegal to use, so that they cannot be held responsible if caught, with the engine cover apart from the service manager who verbally told me not to put it on as yet there was nothing in writing or in the package that said so and what really counts is what you get in writing by the supplier.

My dealer didn’t seem to be overly bothered about it. It doesn’t look great when I open the bonnet to top up the screen wash and the uncovered engine top is starting to look a bit mottled now. It would be good if the replacement had CUPRA written across the middle or a big CUPRA emblem as compensation

I have ordered one from the dealer which i will probably get next week. Will post a picture.
And...they charged me EUR154,00 for it
