Formentor VZ1 245 2.0

Hi all!

I am new to the site and also the Cupra tribe!

Not long had my Cupra Formentor VZ1 245 in metallic black. Got delivered the back end of March and absolutely loving it so far. Currently got around 575 miles on the clock.

I haven’t seen that many people talking about the VZ1 245 2.0 version, seems somewhat ‘rare’ 😂.

Added a picture which was taken after her first bath!

Congrats on the motor! A few others have also taken theirs these past few weeks and mine is (hopefully) on its way to the uk at the minute.

Seems like this variant might be the hidden gem of the range!

The car looks great, when did you order yours. I ordered my VZ1 in Graphene Grey early January still showing as order accepted but no build date yet.

I've had my Graphene Grey VZ1 245 since mid March, have done 1800 miles now. Absolutely brilliant, don't regret not going for the 310 which I was 50/50 at the time of ordering. More than enough power to have some fun on the public roads. Plus the engine seems to be bedding in and starting to get brilliant economy from it now when not pressing on

What sort of mpg are you getting in “driving miss daisy” mode?

My commute is 25 miles each way mostly motorway about 3 miles town/stop start best I’ve got is 48mpg on the way there. Was at 49.5 before coming of the motorway. Seem to get about 43-44 on the round trip. Tend to put it in Individual and put engine into Eco on motorway so it coasts when coming of accelerator which helps a lot! Round town low 30s. My best tank at the moment is currently 41.1 done 243 miles and says I have 215 miles left. About mid 20s if pushing on. MPG seems to have gotten better after about 1500 miles wasn’t great at first

That was going to be my next question… does the higher spec fuel help it considerably enough to justify the premium

I find it makes a small difference to me. Car seems to run better on it but doesn't show much of a difference in MPG. Longest run I've done is a 300 mile round trip and it was at high 30s on Vpower, it gets near enough the same on standard unleaded.

Oh nice! I wanted a Graphene Grey initially but Metallic black was all that was left - but it's growing on me!

I expressed interest in January then started the process of placing the order begging of March, but I was fortunate enough to cop a cancelled order.

I was really interested in the 245bhp version, but don't you lose out on a few of the little touches like the Cupra button on the steering wheel? Looks just as striking on the exterior though so could be a bigger seller than the VZ1

Think the only thing you don't get is leather seats and a steering wheel mounted start button.

It's a lot slower to 60 if such things tickle your pickle but the 245 feels rapid enough in overtakes and feels far from slow.

So on the driving modes do you still get cupra mode? Or do they call it sport??

also the golf gti 245 remaps to around 300bhp so hopefully similar figures can be achieved to close the power gap a bit 🥸

You get cupra mode but its awful, ride is crashy, gearbox is jerky.

I just set up individual with what i like and use that.

I am currently considering a Formentor with this engine, and have a few questions. Firstly, what’s the exhaust note like? I’m not expecting it to sound as good as the VZ2 310 version, but a bit of bite would be nice. Also, the dealer I’m in conversation with says that you lose the gear change paddles from the VZ2…is this the case, or is there still a way to manually change gear? Could you also attach some photos of the rear end as other than the mock up on the configurator I’ve no idea how the rear diffuser / exhaust looks.

Thanks in advance.

The exhaust note is pretty good, sounds the same as the 310. On some videos online it’s sounds even louder but I don’t know I haven’t compared with one in person. In Cupra mode there is a few pops and bangs on overrun but nothing over the top- also doesn’t pump in fake engine noise like the 310 which I prefer. You still have paddles on the steering wheel but you don’t have the engine start/drive mode buttons on the steering wheel. Has the same wheel as the V1/V2 variants.

Exhaust can do a few pops and bangs in cupra and sport mode. Mainly as revs drop I notice. Mine has change paddles although they're a bit naff and about as sporty as 28 stone darts player. See some people looking at after market paddles but I hardly use them so not that bothered. Has two exhaust pipes, one at each side, diffuser looks a bit smaller.

Another picture of the exhausts closer up. I was worried the would look a bit lost when ordering, they are bigger than the 310s quad tips
