Hi all,
long time lurker first time poster, as they say. I've the above car which is out of manufacturers warranty less than a month. In the past month or so it's been serviced at the suppling main dealer, where I had to push for a Haldex service under the service plan, and where the dealer flagged new rear discs and pads, which I had fitted. Car has full SEAT service history from this same dealer.
In the past few days the car has developed a low 'gruanching' or scraping sound from the left rear of the car. This is most noticeable when first driving off when the car is cold at low speed particularly when turning left. Now from a bit of research here and elsewhere this could be something with the Haldex / rear diff or a wheeling bearing. I don't know.
Anxious to avoid major expense out of warranty, I'm wondering how best to approach the dealer to get the problem resolved at v. low or no cost.
From reading others' experiences, my money would be on the dealer doing the Haldex service wrong, however the problem has only manifested in the past few days, the service was done 3 or 4 weeks ago. And what proof do I have. Any suggestions on what the problem could be; maybe it's something related to the new discs and pads...
Second and probably more important, I don't want to go into the dealer 'all guns blazing' but want to approach them in a way to get the best result for me, given the car is out of warranty since the end of Feb. I wonder, for example, should I go to a trusted indy first, and then go back to the dealer with their diagnosis. Probably not, but all the power seems to be with the dealer who I know from experience will do their best to fob me off or charge full whack for whatever it is.
Any advice really appreciated and thanks for reading - for a first post I'm probably asking a lot so apols if so!
