After a motorway journey my car started leaking from under the centre console on the passenger side what looked like and smelt like coffee. It was also steaming. I seen the coolant level had dropped to below the minimum line despite this only being filled a couple months ago and i also didn’t get the normal warning on the dashboard. What’s caused this?
Had to get my car recovered as I didn’t think it was safe to drive

A leak in the cabin heater matrix is the first place to look as it located in that area.
Agree. Not sure about the colour and odour of the ‘substance’ leaking into the footwell in the OP’s car though, unless the matrix is also really full of crud - @N77A, have you also had any issues with heater not warming up?

That plastic panel can be unscrewed and removed fairly easily to expose the heater matrix and pipework behind it. If you cna do that, you might get a better idea of where it's coming from.
