Have had my Formentor since 1st Dec, but over the last week noticed quite a number of DAB signal dropouts. This happens on various radio stations, so not specific to just one

Anybody else having issues with DAB, any ideas what it could be. Have not noticed this previously

I have had my car since May and been all over the place and I don't think I have ever had a drop out.

I had a load of drop-outs last week - I'm in South Bucks, and instead if Radio X on DAB, it drifted out and I got Radio Leicester instead! I'm putting it down to the atmospheric conditions prevailing at the moment, rather than a fault with the car.

I was thinking that .... as it has started to happen now that the cold spell has kicked in ... is the air more dense, and therefore harder for the signal to penetrate

Yeah, happy with the stations etc ... just do not understand why it has suddenly (last week or so), started dropping .... the only thing that changed, was the temp has dropped. I am in Wales, so lots of mountains and hills etc ... but until recently, was rock solid

Still getting issues with the DAB. Around my area (Newport/Cardiff) still drops in and out. Had a drive to Woking last week, and even along that whole journey, was still cutting out. This has only started over the last few weeks .. it is really annoying, as have to keep switching back to FM

Anybody else ... any ideas?

Hi Albie999, Unfortunately this is not likely to be an issue with the car. This is an issue across all marques with DAB. DAB is great if you are in a single location but will often suffer from dropout when moving. This depends on a number of factors, including weather, geography, distance from transmitter etc etc. DAB is digital and if the bit error rate is too high it just drops out, unlike FM signals that may degrade a little. This is a common issue with digital transmission technology. I have had a number of cars with DAB (VW, Mercerdes, BMW) and they have all suffered from, one day working to next day dropping out. Some days you would get a good signal all journey and others the screen would just say "No Service". It is also recently understood that the roll-out of 5G mobile may well impact on DAB reception quality.

OK, thanks mate ... I did notice that, DAB did start to become a little more unreliable, when the temperature dropped a few weeks ago .. will have to see if if gets any better, when we finally start to get some warmer and drier weather ;-)
