Couldn’t agree more with every part of this. I do have one suggestion though… how about we start a thread where everyday we each go on and say when our cars DON’T have a problem? Lol Of course, the only issue with that is that hardly anyone would actually do it because generally we’re only ever likely to make an effort to do something when there’s been a problem that we want to either get advice about or vent our frustration over.

The short story is the Formentor is a fantastic car but like almost every car, has its quirks. If you’re looking for the perfect car then just keep looking at the pictures in the brochures

Mainly because the same handful of people would turn up to tell the people who don’t have problems ‘they’re wrong’.

I had a SEAT many years ago (the one in my profile pic) and always found customer service to be good. The car wasn't great, but that was mainly because it had the afterthought DPF which was never intended for the PD engine, and also a few niggles here and there.

Unfortunately it seems the same can't be said for Sales it seems... I phoned Preston SEAT up today to ask if I could go in and take one for a drive, with the intention of then placing an order if no major concerns and price was comparable. Was told someone would ring me back in a few minutes as he was dealing with a customer... That's the last I heard.
So I phoned Stockport up instead, have arranged a test drive next weekend, and will place my order with them instead.

I dunno whether they would be bothered or not about losing the sale, but I'm the paying customer, and I'm not going to chase a salesman around to close *their* sale. If they can't be bothered to follow up a lead or aren't organized enough to ensure they don't "forget to call back" then that's not my problem. /Rantover

Strangely enough I tried to use Cupra Preston - and ended up buying a car from Cupra Huddersfield

I agree with all the comments about Preston Seat/Cupra. The worst dealership I have ever had the misfortune of dealing with in nearly 50 years and there’s been plenty!

Looks like I dodged a bullet then! Only other time I had dealings with them was when they resprayed (or as I suspect, outsourced a respray) on the wing of the Leon FR in my profile pic about 10 years ago. It had to go back three times because the job was so shabby. :/

10 years ago will have been under different ownership.
It used to be privately owned and called HOBIN SEAT

I seem to remember Arnold Clark took it over for a short time before it became JOHNSONS SEAT

I suppose you don't expect to have to go spending a load more cash on that after buying a 30/35k car lol.

Exactly the opposite. The more you spend on a car the more it is going to cost you. I already spent at least 15% of its tag price on coating, winter wheels, exhaust and some minor stuff. Getting OBD specialist wouldn't make me any difference here....

I used to use them when they were Hobin seat and were always great. That’s going back to the early 2000’s.

Yeah but they're all enhancements. You shouldn't expend to spend 15% fixing problems which shouldn't have come out of the factory like that. If it came delivered with the exhaust falling off, you wouldn't just put it down to the costs of owning a reasonably expensive car and go get it fixed at your local garage.

My review of 150hp/DSG after 3200Km is here:

hope that it helps a bit!

One thing i would like to add for the ACC thing and the slowdown, we can just press 0/1 button and shut it off temporarily when a car enters our lane and moves slow, then press "SET" again when the condition and the timing is right.
