Hi all,

Hope you’ve had a good Christmas.

I’ve got some damage to the boot lid of my ST and have been quoted silly money to get it repaired. There’s a boot on eBay the same colour but it’s for a facelift; before I buy it can anyone confirm if it’s the same as a pre face lift.

I know the bumper was different but the boot looks the same. It’s just the lights shape being different I’m worried about as that’ll effect the pre fl lights fitment.

Comparison of pre vs fl.

Said damage.

The panels all distorted so it needs painting hence the cost.

Thanks,

Edward

Get a PDR guy to look at it.
If the paint isn't broken then they'll probably be able to pull it out.

A decent PDR guy can work magic

I don't know for sure, but I have a suspicion that the wiring loom for the rear lights is different.
Maybe someone on here can confirm ?

Thank you all, turned out it was the wrong paint code anyway which was frustrating. I’ll get a paintless dent removal person to have a look but personally I think the panel is too distorted so will need painting.

That said if they can’t make it look better I’ll be happy even if it’s not 100%.

If you get a good PDR guy, it's amazing what they can do. If the paint itself is not damaged it's certainly worth a go.

100% a good pdf man will do this. Make sure you use one with good reviews, as most of the franchise type ones will turn this work away in favour of little dings. An experienced one man band type business will repair that easily.

Find out whom the local dealers and/or prestige car specialists in the area use for their PDR.

As above, a good PDR specialist can work wonders - my wife’s Golf had 2000+ dents removed post a biblical hail storm whilst living in Germany.

All sorted. I have to say, I'm super impressed with result! I got a couple other little bits sorted as he was here but genuinely blown away. Thank you all for the recommendation. I don't think the photo of the damage really did justice to how bad it was so i've put a few more on to show it vs the end result.

This photo really shows the distortion in the panel and why I felt it needed painting.

End result!

Thanks again for all the advice and if anyone needs a dent sorting in the Midlands I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Leon from Dragon Dent.

It‘s amazing what a skilled PDR operative can achieve. Good to see you got it sorted.

With a name like Leon, he was the right guy to work on your car 🙂.
