pop and bang ,backfire !!

so I'm guessing all vz formentors sound the same ,since new mine in cupra mode gives some good burbles and pops but if i hold the revs about 3500 for a few seconds and then release the throttle and blip it again i get a quite loud backfire ,,,,,its loud enough to make pedestrians look ,im just surprised its so loud on stock setup ,,is this normal ?? makes my brothers 7.5 Golf R sound tame...

My neighbour says the Formentor is quiet in comparison to what my Golf R 7.5 was

3rd gear cupra mode in manual.hold revs just above 3500 for a few seconds if possible let the revs drop down to about 2500 and then change down makes some great sounds ,,,,or to get the loud crack /backfire hold about 3500 for a few seconds 2nd or 3rd gear let them drop slightly and then blip the throttle and hey presto major crack/backfire.....well on mine anyway ,1300 miles .....and lots and lots of launches lol. still not beat my 4.39 .....

you will here it alright if it cracks/backfires,drop your window and try it in a narrow street ..

It's the same (or should be) on the VZ 310 Formentors, Golf MK8 R's and Cupra Leon 300's. DSG sport mode (flick gear lever back) opens up the exhaust valves so yes this is normal. I've owned the Cupra Leon 300 and I replaced it with a Golf R, both of them crack / pop quite loudly may I say when lifting off over the 3K rev mark.

That was the exact method I used when I test drove it back in June. I have mine booked in for a res delete so I wonder how much difference it makes with the same technique
