5th June so do you think that’s in line with other people’s arrival times?
I have to say that seems fairly average for a V2 model. Just keep an eye on any slippages for build weeks. Once it's a confirmed week you should sleep more soundly.

Yes, I ordered on 13 May and have been told the car will be at the suppliers W/c 11 October, so should expect delivery within a fortnight of then. All good, seemingly

Just Checked on mine (VZ2 ordered 2nd June) still no build date. Was advised early November would be fine when I ordered....

I like how they say, "We do still have cars readily available from stock – just give your local Retailer a call and they can help you find your perfect car."

So long as your perfect car is a manual V1 or a V2 Hybrid.
In my case, the perfect car was a six-month old VZ2 dealer demonstrator with 3,000 miles. Happy days! :cheers:

I was offered something similar back in May. I don't regret turning it down, but only because I could order through an employee discount scheme.

Yep so far. The power feels a little underwhelming at the moment if I'm honest. Not sure if there's a soft limit on it for a bit, but coming from the golf r, it doesn't feel like it has the same oomph, although it definitely does.

Touchscreen is annoying for certain things though. Don't mind it, but fan control etc on it is annoying. Haven't had any bugs or issues with it though.

Also the gearing in sport mode can be a little weird. For example if you pull out, foot down and back off. Rather than it changing up, it'll just sit there in first gear at 6k rpm, making any attempt at acceleration juddery as hell, so I find myself having to manually change up.

I’m not looking forward to dealing with the screen at all. It needs one of the safety bodies to give it a good going over to force VW to change it.

For most things it's fine, the golf was a perfect combo of touch and dials but this feels a step too far. Not entirely sure how my bro gets on in his Tesla as his steering wheel lacks controls too

I do miss not being able to make calls from the steering wheel, although I imagine its probably a view I need to add it to on the dashboard

I guess it depends on how you use stuff. I'm the sole driver of my car, so I only have to set up one set of preferences, after which I don't need to use the touchscreen very often when driving. Those preferences include setting the temperature I want inside the car, and then leaving the system on Auto to do its job. Thereafter, I only need to intervene if the windscreen needs demisting, and there's a physical button on the headlight control panel for that. I've never touched the unlit sliders underneath the screen; can't see the need to. Of course, when winter comes, I'll need to heat my seat; I'll have to see if the voice command button on the wheel will do that for me.

I've paired my phone via Apple Carplay, so use the phone apps rather than native ones. From there, I can use Siri for most of the inputs I want (change radio station, make a phone call, set up a destination etc). Mostly I only use the touchscreen in CarPlay if I want to alter the view from dashboard to one specific app.

There is, of course, the thorny issue of the assists menu, and the requirement to toggle the ones I don't want running off every time I switch on (stop/start, lane assist etc) but I just think of those as my pre-flight checks before driving off. Once they're done, they're done.

The only slight niggle I have is with ACC, I'm used to standard cruise and I find it a bit too keen to start slowing down and then seems to take forever to pick the speed back up (motorways). The only way I see around it is to just sit in the outside lane with an indicator on and swap my badges for BMW ones
