Hi, any help much appreciated, as the title suggests could anybody tell me if my seat Ibiza fr with the 110 bhp engine in it has a gpf filter on it? I moved away from a derv car because of the problems with a dpf filter!! When I've looked under the bonnet I can see a canister looking object on the exhaust just after the turbo! Hope it's not a gpf!! Any help much appreciated thanks

That canister is probably "just" a Cat. I asked about this when I bought my 1.0 litre 95hp Ibiza back in 2016 because I though, being a DI engine it might have one but I was told it didn't. It has a canister just after the turbo exactly as you describe. Gasoline Particulate Filters are quite a new addition - what year is your car? I think the Tiguan and Up were the first to get them in 2016? I don't think the clogging up problem is anything like as serious an issue with the petrol engines anyway?
Hiya m8, thanks for reply, it's a 16 plate car, it's just I know that canister is in exact same position as what my Octavia diesel is, hopefully is just a cat but when looking under the car it looks like it has a cat in the middle of the car also!! Two cats bit unusual I thought!!

Based on the content of that press release, I’d say that your car wont have a GPF fitted if it was registered in 2016.
The details in this Autocar article from 2016 are consistent with the VW Group press release, although that doesn’t come as a surprise as Autocar probably used the press release as a basis for their article!
