Two new CUPRA Formentor model variants available to order in the UK

Formentor e-HYBRID DSG-auto 204PS introduces a lower starting price for the plug-in hybrid variant, with prices starting from £35,770 RRP for V1 trim and rising to £37,600 RRP for V2 trim.



This new variant of Formentor is the most efficient in the range, delivering up to 235.4mpg on the combined WLTP cycle and CO2 emissions from 27g/km. The e-HYBRID 204PS qualifies for a low BiK rating of 11% for 2021/22, making it an attractive proposition for fleet and company car drivers.



The plug-in hybrid powertrain couples a 1.4-litre TSI petrol engine with a 116PS electric motor and 12.8kWh battery pack. This produces a combined 204PS of power and 330Nm of torque – enough to propel Formentor from 0-62mph in 7.8 seconds and on to a top speed of 127mph.



Formentor e-HYBRID 204PS can be driven up to 37 miles (WLTP) on electric power alone and recharged from 0-100% in 3.5 hours using a 3.6kW AC charger.

Isn't 245PS model a bit pointles? Limited spec option and price will be similar to ex-demo 310 VZ2. And 245 is not even 4Drive?

245PS is the Skoda Octavia VRS/VW Golf GTI Performance engine, FWD only. Would usually be a popular option, albeit this is the first I'm hearing of its existence

It's popular in Octavia, because there's no 300ps model. But with Formentor, you have 310ps model with 4 Drive and better spec for a bit more.

Golf GTI is as popular, potentially more popular than the Golf R. Not least because of the stinky car tax rules over £40k list price now. Compared to the GTI and Leon, the price for the 245PS is good.

I think the most popular variant of the Golf will be the Clubsport. The standard GTI is a bit underwhelming and the Golf R, although quick 0-60, you can feel the extra weight from the AWD system. The Clubsport has produced quicker lap times than the R and is a critics favourite.

Where the Formentor pips it, is the bundle of standard equipment you get. Heated and electric leather seats, DCC, etc all standard on the VZ2, the only options worth getting are the panoramic roof.

Only to be outdone by the Cupra Leon VZ2. Specced up under £40k too (unlike the golfs). Still a ridiculous amount of money for a hot hatch but that's probably where my money would go.

Yeah agreed, the Cupra Leon does track times quicker than the R and Clubsport too! I really like the Cupra Leon, but I need that little bit of extra height and room for the family and little one, otherwise I would have definitely considered it. The Formentor at £284 a month was really too good to miss!
