Busted cup holder!

Yep, im suffering.
My cup holder has lost its ability to pop out.
Ive got another one to replace it with.

What do i need to get the old one out?
Is it just a case of somehow removing the chrome trim or is it a full interior strip down?

1st world problems.

Chances are the mechanism has got clogged up with crap or dried out, I see this all the time and more often than not they can be salvaged unless visibly broken.

You'll need to remove it from the centre console first.
They're clipped into it so you'll need to release the tabs from behind ideally.

Remove the stereo and buttons for access or unscrew the centre console and tip it towards you so you can get to the cupholder.

Once out you can prise the lid off to clean and lubricate the catch inside.

when i first got my leon that holder was sticking badly , spilt drink i bet, there is a spring or something right at the back, what i did without removing the holder is attach a extension pipe to a can of silicon spray and spray both sides at the back and operating the holder after a few try's it sorted the problem also this fixed the jamming issue as sometimes the dam thing would lock shut and not push to open but did spray front as well, other than the odd spray now and again ive had no issue and had car since 2011, will save you allot of time doing it that way

I think on mine something has broken.
Its not sticking. It pulls in and out as easy as anything with no restrictions.
Havnt got round to sorting it yet. In fact its now way down the list.
I'll get it done eventually lol

yea probably spring gone id still blast it you never no lol , mine worked on own just sticked , the standard radio in car at time underneath it the buttons were all stuck so thought dried sugar, last time i seen one on ebay think they were around 28 quid
