Interesting read @Jimbobcook.
Electric cars aren’t my thing but my sister in law has a Nissan Leaf and that cost her near 40 grand (£399 month) for the one with the smaller capacity battery so It’s interesting to see what you get for 20 grand less. ?
Yes the leaf is a bigger car and you can squeeze 3 in the back but the range on her’s claims about the same as the mii at 160 miles (until you turn on the radio or the heater and it drops rapidly). ?
Is it worth the extra 20 grand for the leaf??
It’s just taken her nearly 2 hours longer than us to complete a 352 mile journey from Cornwall back to Liverpool. ?
I know that’s not what they’re designed for but she wanted to see how practical it would be on a weeks holiday in Cornwall. Not very!
She became very familiar with the local Tesco charging point and had to stop for two 45 minute charges on the way home.
As a city runabout though the mii seems a decent little car, just not for me. Lol

I guess the price thing for me was that the battery car should be taking over the petrol for the better of the world so the price should be the same or better to the cars you can buy in its range and size, its just currently way off in my eyes.
But as you correctly mentioned it's cheap in battery car terms (probably one of the cheapest) but its not a viable point to jump over yet unless it's just a town car like we both mentioned. But its all very interesting if things get cheaper and quick to charge, I just think the quicker we charge things the quicker the battery does in my mind lol
I also assume they stay with the same mentality that batteries should stay within the 10% to 80% charge range like a mobile hence why all their stats have 80% charge times.

The Nissan Leaf my sister in law has was 33 grand not 39, that was the one with the longer range- 260 miles.
The mii is definitely one of the cheaper options, be interesting to see how popular it is.

Might see if I can borrow that! I do like the idea of the CUPRA el-Born, my only previous dealing with a electric was a Tesla test drive and also a hybrid BMW which had a range of 32 miles but in reality that was 12 miles.
Really good review jimbob. I have owned a Mii electric since July and I am very happy with it and I agree with almost all of your observations. One important correction is that there is a USB connection outlet just behind the phone holder. I use this all the time and like the set up even although I cannot get the Connect app to load onto my iPhone.
I am due to get a 7.2 kW wallbox (a Pulsar Plus) fitted next week and am keen to find out if it will charge at the full 7.2 kW. Apparently some early supplied Miis, e-uP and Citigos can only charge at 3.7 kW on single phase supplies. My car was built in March so hopefully it may have had the necessary software update which enables 7.2 kW charging.

That's interesting lol maybe I was going blind, it seemed to be a silly idea not to put one in and I'm sure I looked haha yeah the 7.2 kW charging gets you down to 4 hours doesnt it instead of 9-10?
Its a great little car, for town use it made me smile quite abit on what it could do.

From memory I plugged the home charger plug into the wall socket, tuned on the plug, unlocked the car to release the charging flap, plugged in the charging cable to the car, the cable locked in place and the car started charging with all 3 lights on the charger block which is a few metres away from the wall socket.
The charging did take quite a while using the plug if the battery was low. Does your charging work ok from a 3rd party charging point?
As we don't have the car in for review anymore I don't think I can be much more help than that i'm afraid. I charged the Mii two times and it worked both times straight away.

I can confirm that the method Jimbocook described works for me too. The only thing I would get you to check is whether the Wallbox might be ‘locked’ in some way? I know that with my phone app I can set a locked instruction so that no one else can use it - this locking facility is there in case your unit is installed outside your property - (mine is in a locked garage so I never need to lock it off). You should also have a master on/off switch near your circuit board in the house. You could try the old switch on switch off method which sometimes resets the system. Apologies if you’ve tried that already!
