Hi all,

I was wondering if somebody could tell me the different between the 290 Lux that has the silver badge and the 290 Lux that has the copper badge. Is it just red brake callipers?

Thanks :)

The earlier Lux cars had full leather, but there where only a few made with out the copper badges. The latest cars have buckets.

I had full leather on my 280, and buckets in my carbon. Can’t say there is much difference in how much they hold you, but they look a lot better IMO
(y) looking at getting a 290 Lux and the main selling point for the silver badge ones is the brake callipers tbh

Not sure if you’ll find many 290 Lux’s with chrome badges. I could be wrong, but I’m sure the ‘Lux’ came out as part of the ‘EZ/easy’ specification choices due to the harsher emissions being introduced in September 2018.

The copper badges weren’t quite introduced in time with that. Chances are you’ll be looking at the older better sounding 300’s that don’t have the additional GPF/PPF for emissions.

Ahh I see, so all the copper badge 290/290lux as well as the newer silver badge ones will have the GPF? That’s what I’m trying to avoid
Yeah. Like I said not sure if there are many 290 Lux’s with chrome badges as it’s when the hard shed emissions came out.

I can’t remember if the Lux ‘name/spec’ came out earlier or not. If you’re after a 5 door (sounds like it based on wanting a 290 Lux) then chances are you should look for 5 door 300’s. Just not sure if the ‘Lux’ spec was available when it was a 300.But back then you could spec all kinds of different options.

Just checked on Auto Trader, doesn’t seem the 300 ever existed as a Lux. The higher spec version may of had a different name at the time.

For the hatchback, all 300s will be facelifts and without the GPF/PPF.
