I went on a test drive new Leon eTSI 1.5 FR model. Car was similar my 2016 Leon ST but of course little bit smaller.
But I like driving it. Simple and SEAT feeling. The cab felt a little full after driving different cars.

For me I am looking more Leon ST version and also TDI when this is possible to get.

How was the 1.5 engine - any signs of hesitation/kangaroo effect that have plagued the mk3 without cure?

I have a 1.5 130 in my current Mk3 and it’s a pain especially in traffic and/or in the first few minutes of driving - despite seat updates it remains a duff engine.
Flat spots at around 1500rpm and especially in 2nd gear. Mine also blips at around 50mph when gently accelerating.

I like the look of the the new Leon and would happily trade my current for one - but not for the same issues, either that or I’ll be going for the 1.0 tsi 115 .

The price is the biggest thing putting me off. When I got my Facelift MK3 it has only been released 2 months or so list price 24k. MK4 FR first edition 29k... come on thats crazy money. Would much rather spend my cash on a VW at that price.

Am I right in saying this Kangaroo effect is only on the manual gearbox or is this issue on the DSG as well?

not sure how prominent the fault is on the MY20 Cars as this is the first reports since the so say improved engine, but the T-roc forums has the most active thread regarding the Kangaroo effect 240 pages - and a lot of customers have rejected cars Dsg models of MY18/19 were effected and some reports on the forum, but not as big of problem as in the manual as the Dsg masks the fault somewhat... but what damage it does to the dual clutch I have no idea....

Would usually keep my opinions to myself (especially when negative)
But.. as you asked, i think they look horrible. It reminds me of a Mazda 3 at the front and an Astra at the back.

When I looked at the new Mazda 3 I thought it had been designed by two teams, one for the front and another for the rear, and they didn’t talk to each other, we may go off Seat or spend a bit of cash on the Honda since it’s with us till it dies.
