Airbag warning light

Hi guys,

Last year i ran over a branch and since then I’ve had an airbag warning light on and my mechanic cant shift it. It did go with a bang and ended up pulled some branches out of the underneath.
I also had the door card issue which flooded the footwell and surrounding area but thats been sorted (passenger side).
Drivers side is dry as a bone.

Need some help as concerned the airbags wont be active. Ive connected a diagnostic machine (from amazon) and it doesn’t pick up any faults, even when i disconnected the drivers side seat it didn’t pick up any errors?!?! So not sure whether its just a crap machine.

Not sure what else to try, mechanic specialises in seat/audi etc and is a good mate so know he isn’t fobbing me off.

Any ideas what to do next would be great....

Sounds like a crap machine to me, although some only do engine and ABS and don't cover the Airbags. Without a fault code it's hard to say, but if i had to choose between the branch incident or the flooding, i'd go with the footwell flood every time. Wet footwells have caused many an airbag fault as the crash sensors are under the front seats. Sometimes you just get away with cleaning the plug, other times you have to replace the sensor.

Tried searching for the sensors but cant find them anywhere, any ideas mate?
Is it just under the carpet under the seat or are they somewhere else? Sorry, I’ve got no idea!

There's a sensor under the passenger side carpet bolted to the floor. Its directly under the front edge of the seat.
Seat and door step trim out and lift the carpet.
Had the same problem myself a few years ago on my old car.
Carpet feels dry on top but water was still in the sensor.
Worth a look.

I recently had my seats out and couldnt find the sensor in question as i have an airbag light on after taking my glovebox out once. Had it deleted on vcds multiple times. Would like to check for the sensor itself, its not the yellow plastic connector is it?

Cheers. Managed to reset all the codes and start again. Got the g180 passenger side faulty sensor code now.
Although can’t find anything in front of the seat on the floor, could it be anywhere else?

It was at least 5 years ago that i did mine. Im sure it was in the middle of the cross member that the front seat bolts screw too.
Id found the info about doing mine on here.
Im suprised no one with better knowledge than me havnt come along already.

Thanks, managed to find it and got a replacement off eBay. Fitted it, done all the resets, the light goes off for about 3 seconds and then appears again with a different error message this time if anyone knows what it means.....

Was it wet under there?
Any chance the new sensor is dodgy?

Dry as a bone. I think the new sensor must be the incorrect coding for my control unit. Starting to prove a nightmare to get or find the right one as the car is 15 years old.

I have the same airbag light issue just come up, I'll try this thanks!
