Seat Staining

HI,

I have noticed that both my front passenger and rear passenger seats have what looks like water stains on them, the front passenger has it in the middle of the seat and traveling up the back of the seat. I never have drinks in the car and haven't spilled anything in there. The seats are not damp/wet to the touch but the stains wont seem to come out and the stains have been there for a number of months. At first I thought it may be the car is getting condensation on the inside but I have never noticed any water in the interior.

My car is a 2018 Seat Leon 1.4 FR, Has anybody else experienced anything similar ?

Yes, same here FR from rain water when opening doors. mabe it's some sort of protective layer?

How did you try and clean the seats? Should be easy to remove.

I get the same. A quick autoglym shampoo usually removes it but it is annoying as anytime the seats get damp they stain again

This !

I use autoglym interior shampoo and a cloth and it should come out pretty easy.

The shape of the car means it's really easy to get water in the car even when careful, quite annoying but the stains should come out easy enough.

I had similar issue on the Mrs FR seats would stain so easy even water marks too auto Glym interior shampoo is your best friend I did it in the summer when weather was scorching washed all the seats and worked a treat

Unless the stain is oily water should remove it. Spray the area and dab off the water with paper towels or clean towels. If you lift off all of the water and stain this way it shouldn't come back.

@slfr; once you’ve cleaned your seats, have you considered using a fabric protector that’ll repel water and other liquids to minimise the likelihood of further staining in future? Something like these;

I’ve not used any of these myself so can’t vouch for how effective they are, but they’re not too expensive and they get good customer reviews, so maybe worth a try.

I disagree. Yes, you will get a mark if you spill anything on the seats but it's not the seats fault and is easy to remove.

Your seat is not clean. It has years of dust and dirt in and on the fabric. When you drop water onto the seat, the water seeps out through the fabric carrying the dirt with it. So when it dries it's made a clean spot! Usually with a ring of displaced dirt around it. All you need to do is lift the rest of the dirt.

Spray or dab the whole seat patch with either clean water or water with a little detergent in it if you are trying to lift more than just dirt. Use clean paper or cloth towels to lift the water back off the seat. Don't rub at it, lay the towel on the wet seat and press it into the cloth so that the water soaks into it. As the water soaks into your cloths it will lift the dirt or stain with it.

Repeat this process until the seat is clean. You might have to let the seat dry between goes to see how the stain is doing. If you've used detergent use just water for the last couple of cycles to get the detergent out or you'll see it.

The fabric itself is very stain resistant. I've lifted coffee and drinking chocolate out of these seats no problem.

Seats are shite mate, they've been shampooed, steam cleaned and wet vacced.
Now a little water has gone on and has left wet patches.
And yes they can be clean by doing the full section however it's irritating doing it so often for just a 2 inch patch.
