5F0035020V and Full Link?

Hi,

I have been browsing over the forums for about an hour now and still am not fully sure whether or not I can confirm my dealer to upgrade my current media system to have Full Link. They have told me, after some research that they think it is possible if I get a new USB-socket (which I was aware of, so that is all fine).

However, the car is from May 2015, which makes it hard to give it a definite yes or no with my current knowledge.
I have entered my numberplate in the official Seat Shop and Full Link activation comes forward as an option to buy, but with requirements in the specs like MIBII and you need to have it on your system - of which the latter I do not currently have, as there is only activated MirrorLink on there.

Some additional specs:
Seat Leon FR (MY 2015 - May)
Media system part no: 5F0035020V
Hardware: H41
Software: 0123

So I have read across the forums and found several guiding requirements/needs:
6.5" screen - Yes, I have that.
USB socket in centre - No, not currently (only in the glove cabinet), however my dealer is gonna do that as he said its needed.

So before I give my dealer a confirmation on doing this I want to make sure it's feasible and that it can definitely be done.

Yes I know it might not be right to doubt on the knowledge of an official dealer, but it took some time for them to figure this out and give me an answer..

Thanks in advance.

Mark

I think those specs are the same as mine, and I had it activated. I already had the USB socket in the centre console so I didn't need that, but it died shortly after and I ended up having to get it replaced anyway. Seat being champs did it for free though, whether or not they were meant to replace it for free or not I don't know

Thanks for your reply. I have checked your previous messages and that shows a different MIB part number, unfortunately.

My understanding of it was that only MIB2 units could be activated. I had mine activated so it must have been a MIB2 unit. I had the hardware, software etc shown in the picture. I think the first two letters of the hardware (5F or 5Q) tell your which unit you have

Mark you have Harman MIB2-high device. So it must be possible to have full link.
USB on the center console or on the glove box it doesn't mater. They are connected on the same place on the main unit.

I'm sure that if you don't have the 'Full Link' option in your menus it can't be activated, it's my understanding that if it's in the menus and you click on it there will be a message to contact dealer for activation.

Yea that is why I was kind of excited when I finally determined I have a MIB2 unit.

However in the PDF from october 2015 where SEAT stated the compatibility of phones and media systems I quote for 5F0035020:
Apple CarPlay ™ and Android Auto:
- ‘NAVI SYSTEM PLUS browsers with Software 0123 do not have Apple CarPlay ™ and Android Auto technologies available.

Which is why am still confused. Am just hoping that the document is outdated or something.

Thanks for your reply bahyr, after a lot of research I have also concluded that I'm having a MIB2-high device, so I'm very glad you confirm that. Especially now you confirm that it also should be possible to have full link. It's just that all the various comments I've found so far, and now on this thread too, are very contradictory.

I'm sure that if you don't have the 'Full Link' option in your menus it can't be activated, it's my understanding that if it's in the menus and you click on it there will be a message to contact dealer for activation.
That is what I've also read somewhere, but on the other hand I am not sure why a thing like that cannot be updated? I mean I meet the other requirements which are MIB2 and an USB socket (whether it is the one in the glove box or a new one in the center console doesn't matter for me). So am just hoping the dealer can update the system I have.

-----------------

Also, does someone happen to know what the 'V' means in the part number of my media system? Because I've seen those with an 'A', 'G', 'F'. And they also do happen to have different software versions. The part (5F0035020A) which ends with an A, for instance, has Full Link options according to the PDF document from 2015. And is the same part number as I do, except for the last letter - hence I wonder what the letter means.

I think you need to speak to a specialist VW 'retrofitter', maybe if your software was updated to 0319 (which is what mine was with Full Link) it would be possible to activate Full Link.

Also, does someone happen to know what the 'V' means in the part number of my media system? Because I've seen those with an 'A', 'G', 'F'. And they also do happen to have different software versions. When my car was new the part number was 5F0035020A but I subsequently updated the software in 4 stages to 1219 and the part number changed to 5F0035020F, then when I had the unit 'modified' so that I could update the maps it changed to 5F0035020G.

Update: I have had my car in at the official dealer, we agreed on a price and all that. But when they started working on it they had no way of succeeding as the car was from week 22 in 2015. Concluding, if my car would have been 1 week newer then it would've been possibe.

Not gonna lie, am pretty sad with this news. Seems there's nothing I can do about it now, besides installing a fully new media system - which am not going to do.
