Mixed day today. Had my yearly cam follower. 7000 miles and the coating had started to wear. Oil pick up pipe done. Tick. Along with oil change (obviously) and oil filter.

The real kicker was it took over 2 hours to get my car through the mot. Apparently my sports cat is knackered at 2.5 years / 20k miles so needs replacing before next year's mot. I just expected it to last a bit longer than that (that's what she said!).

It it welded in or is it a link pipe? I am considering getting mine put in as a link pipe for ease of swapping.

It's bolt on. Not sure if another brand would have lasted longer (it's Milltek). But I've just got the car running how I want it, so not relishing the idea of messing around with the hardware.

Yeah, I bet. I was debating just getting mine deleted however Darkside do an option when you buy the cat to get a straight through pipe and have it as a bolt on, so you can swap between / replace teh cat more easily.

Based on this and Ash's experience I think not having to get it cut off would make sense.

100% get a bolt on. I got the 200 cell cat to keep it street legal. I might as well have just got a decat and a standard cat to put on for MOT and kept the cash difference.

It would be interesting to see what the inside of your sports cat looks @Legojon , ill be sticking a better bore scope in my old sports cat downpipe this weekend

Yeah, me too. The only bright side is, I read the less effective it is, the more airflow it'll let through.

Also... warning to everyone. This is 7500 miles at Revo 2+:

Your not the first person to say that mate haha , even Miltek are baffled as to what it could be

. I've just emailed them my MOT test results for the last 3 years to see what they make of the figures. I've calculated it at 17k miles and my £700 cat is useless.

Not good is it especially the price they demand new .
Im looking forward to seeing the inside of my old downpipe in a clearer picture/video

It wouldn't be that the REVO map was running rich to be on the safe side as it's a generic map?

Well, from what I've been told. If the map was rich it would have failed on Lamba (which was dead on 1) and the only reason for high CO is a faulty cat.

I meant the over fueling killing the cat?

Fek sake. Reply from Milltek:
"With the race cats they will not last as long as the HJS ones as the HJS ones are designed to be used in a road car. The race ones are designed to go into a race car that may need to pass emissions test which as you can imagine a race car will not do this kind of miles."

Checked my receipt and I don't have the HJS version. Bit peeved my regular VAG specialist didn't think to offer me the HJS version as it didn't add much more to the price and I wouldn't be in this situation now.

That’s not great news. Why they would ever supply a race car for a road car is beyond me... makes no sense.

Yeah, am a bit annoyed cause now I have to buy another 200 cell cat. I asked Milltek to expand a bit on the differences:

"It will allow a very similar air flow as the race cat the big difference is the coatings applied to the cat structure it uses much higher quality metals and the amount of them and this is the difference in the price. It is hard to put a time on it but I would suggest you should see at least 5 years if not a lot longer as these are produced to a higher quality than the catalyst that would be in your car as standard. A lot of if comes down to the tune on the vehicle and how it is driven."

Think I’ll just take mine out except for the MOT... should last longer than the car then...

I've just emailed the garage that fitted it / did my MOT to see which version they think they fitted. I'll wager they didn't realise one is for track and one for road and just fit the cheapest.
