Cupra Bumper vs Fr Bumper

I am trying to establish what the actual differences between the standard bumper and the cupra bumper is. I am ordering some parts and I've seen in the brocure that the Cupra comes with "exclusive Cupra front Bumper". I dn't know what that means.

I have included two photos here for comparison. One of an FR and one of a Cupra. From what I can see, it looks like the only differences are the different grill pattern and the 5 holes above the number plate.

Could anyone that knows about this confirm that the dimensions for the rest of the bumper are the same? The images seem to show that the FR bottom lip is slightly wider than that on the Cupra but that may just be the angle of the picture.

Thanks

Cupra bumper has holes above the plate, and different plastic grill design for all the grills .

However all the Cupra grills would fit the FR bumper, apart from the 5 holes above the number plate bit.

Worth noting that for the fog light grills, not only is the design different, they are not open on the FR. This is because behind he bumper itself, air is fed to the front of the Cupra's brakes. This isn't the case on the FR, which will have different arch liners too.

I wasn't planning on fiddling with the grills just yet. When i come round to swapping those grills out, is that going to affect my brakes? Didnt consider this before now.

Won't affect your brakes, you may lose a 0.5mpg due to added drag. I have to admit I didn't look to closely at how the ducting worked when I had the bumper off. But if you put the wheels on full lock on a Cupra you can see a little slot where the air is fed through.

You can't see in the picture but in the sections below the fog light sectioned off area, has filters, basically stop crap getting onto the discs.

I see, although you are now answering questions about things that only you really know what I have planned for the car.

This thread was to establish whether the OEM "front lip" which is listed as being fr FR models only, would fit on the cupra. Which I am pretty sure it would. Being quoted in the £350 region atm though. Which is cheaper than your funky carbon splitter, but more than a flimsy plastic one from Reigar or Maxton which I am not keen on.

I have the part number for the one that fits the Cupra as I was going to buy one with my skirts when I ordered it but was quoted £600 fitted and painted. Changed my mind as had better stuff to spend £600 on.
Part number is 5f0071606hgru

Ive been quoted £350 for the aprt and £300 for painting and fitting at a dealership. My bodywork guy will do it for about £100 depending on the price of the paint.

I have been looking at the Air Design Splitter which is similar but i think is cooler. It is about £180 but would need to be shipped from mexico
Thetoruble with this one is that it wouldn't fir with the Cupra R fog intakes i have to put on. Where as the OEM one would.

I prefer this! If you decide on this let me know how it goes and the quality and I'll be buying one. Very nice looking lip.

I've been contacting them to see if they can ship one from the US. Might ad a fair few quids onto the price though with import tax and postage.

Okay so for that splitter I need to know if there is any real difference between the facelift bumper and the pre facelift bumper in terms of that bottom lip.

I’m sure I could make it fit, but I’d like to know before hand what I might need to change to get it to where I want it. Does anyone have dimensions of the new vs the old? Might be a long shot.
