Electric Tailgate

I have retrofitted an electric tailgate to my Ateca using all new SEAT parts. I didn't realise the ECU has to be perameterised. SEAT refuse to do it and I can't find a company who are willing to try. Anybody any ideas on how this can be done?

I'll have a look at my parameters if we're not at cross purposes and post them up. We know how to turn the beep off I know that, someone else did that but I keep mine on so it doesn't wack me.

I have coded the unit via VCDS but it is the firmware on the ECU which is missing on a new unit. Garages can code these through ODIS if the VIN shows the car to have an electric tailgate but as mine does not show this SEAT refuse to allow it to be coded.
Is there a workround for this?

It sounds as if it's only ODIS only then it's controlled by Seat but if they say ODIS as their advanced VCDS tool then not. I thought the basic programming was in all the cars and it was just a question of configuring the subsystems to hook into it.

I will later post up my values of the 6D unit just in case they are different to yours. Seat did have to reprogram mine since the original build ones in 2016 for a three week period had a production unit issue on the control unit with the foot waggle side, the rest worked on the release button of the lid. Is yours both the tailgate and virtual pedal ?. They had to call in the cars with these units to change them.

The people who modded my navigation plus unit to make it into retrofit have access to ODIS. Might be worth a try if you draw a blank but it does get a bit Jolly Rogers...(the Croydon people) they didnt leave me on a deserted island thou with the work they did for me. .

I saw those screens in Erwin which I reckon is where that is. Didn't take that any further myself. Happy with Obdeleven on that one and access just to Erwin for the manuals, SSPs and build codes.

Did that ECU thing make sense ? Or is it that the dealer won't fully program the car if it's not factory fitted. Wondered whether you had to also go into say the Gateway and Electrical system side to enable it as well ?. Some of them splatter across other control units.

Thanks for all the useful information. I will try and use the 6D coding you sent but it won't be until next week.
I'll let you know how it went.

The 6D coding is as factory with the virtual pedal sensor. Never changed those codes.

The Obdeleven does break down the long string into its component parts on assorted adaptation screens. Quite a few. If you are happy with the long code for 6D, I'll leave it at that. If say you are fitting just the motor arm but not the foot pedal no doubt the long string would be different. I'd have to go throu the assorted screens. That's assuming your 6D part number tallies.

As I said before whether the coding spills out into other systems I'd have to do other Google's and read up. That's why I gave you my full address map.

Still cannot get the tailgate to work. The ECU needs an ODIS code attached to the VIN which SEAT refuse to do. Took it to HazzyDayz still no luck. It needs an ECU from an Ateca with an electric tailgate. No scrapyard seems to have one.

Nice, but I noted that they didn't mention the overall cost.

Possibly the downside. The OP did the fitting themselves but stumbled in the propriety coding of getting it integrated into the car's system.

My factory fitted works a dream with the virtual peddle. Having moved and having an adventures cat that gets in the boot, you get shopping in one hand, cat in the other out of the boot and foot close. No squashed cat. 101 uses of it .
