Cheers for the advice mate i think this will be the next mod!
On a separate note, do you know a garage around our area Wrexham/Chester etc that could check for boost leaks and do pressure/smoke test?
No worries mate, glad to help. I don't know of any in particular that do it but there is Ecotech in Buckley who do remapping so they might, or else ring round any VW specialists/garages in the area and see if they can do it? I've looked in to making a DIY boost tester but there's some conflicting info on where to test the boost from and stuff so I'm not sold on doin it.

About an hour away from me not too far. We've had about 5 different maps on the car just tweaking stuff about. Could throw in some more fuel in the right places and make 200bhp and more torque but I'm happy with how it goes to be honest as it's my daily car.

Slight Bhp dip at 3300rpm ish but can be sorted by adjusting the N75 map very slightly.

They have very accurate rollers (unlike some) as they run touring cars.

If you were near here he'd wack my map on yours for not a lot.

I read online about power handling of various clutches and decided to go with a Sachs one. With trade discount cost me about £340 for duel mass fly, clutch and slave cylinder.
Supposedly handles more power than an LUK one can. The original was Sachs anyway and lasted 130k.

If you want to check your boost does the Darkside EGR delete not have a boost gauge takeoff pipe on it?

I went for an allard one in the end.

Where abouts in Wrexham you based then? My dads place is in Cefn Mawr just outside Wrexham.

Ah cool, does your mate work in AMD or is that just the rollers you ran it on? That looks like a really nice curve barring the slight dip, I don't know enough about this stuff to read any more than that from it :p It's a shame I'm not nearer, I would probably push for the highest power I could get out of mine though!

How much torque can the Sachs one reportedly take? That's a far better price than the £600ish I've seen stage 1 kits going for online! Is your map a torque conservative one to account for the OEM clutch?

I have a boost gauge fitted, it's threaded directly in to the intake manifold so I've blocked the outlet on the Darkside EGR pipe. I tend to watch it like a hawk on spirited drives. I'm getting a steady 1.4bar at WOT, this sometimes spikes to 1.6/1.7bar on the gauge but I've run the Torque app and that shows that the boost at the MAP sensor only peaks to 1.5bar so it's running well at the moment. Do you notice a lot of turbo whistle coming from near the front of the car with the EGR delete on? I know I have some whistle through the exhaust now but noticed there's also a loud whistle from the front end as well.

I'm in Summerhill so just outside Wrexham as well, I tend to go to Chester and Mold mostly though.

Cheers mate :) and you have the nice FR+ bodywork on yours as well! What mods have you got in mind?

Thanks, she has taken a bit of a beating on the old body work over the last few months :( some serious stone chips from some resurfacing works round where I live and someone ran in to me in a car park at low speed :censored:

So she needs a TLC respray at some point.

Just finished replacing all the shocks with OEM new ones and Eibach springs to replace the crappy fake ones that she had on her.

Exhaust and remap as soon as I can get the cash together and some changing of lights needs to be done at some point. :D

Wow it's been so long since I updated anything on here!

Well, all that's happened in recent times is running back and to to work and moving in with my fiancee and beginning to arrange our wedding :D

Today I have however replaced my front bumper for one that isn't as scuffed and lines up better since my car had it's little run in with a wall and replaced the drivers side headlight for one that points the right way.

I have my mot due soon as well so I've plugged my egr and ASV valves back in but left the vac lines off them so I don't get any error codes!

Hopefully when I have some spare money I'm gonna have my wheels properly resprayed as the Plasti-dip is all but falling off, the car is in desperate need of a clean inside and out and I'm gonna get round to it when I've got time after my fiancee's birthday and my dad's birthday the day after each other!

Tessitura, would be up for meeting up some time, my cars not in top shape but I'm always happy for a drive and sharin car info :)

Now to find an MOT station that won't notice I have a decat

The car is now for sale as I'm not able to work on it for the time being and it has a possible cam issue and a dew other bits that need doing :(

You can view the For Sale thread here. http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/showthread.php?t=428210

Any questions please feel free to ask. I'm going to be sad to see it go as it's been my first major project car and I've enjoyed every bit of it!

Thanks mate, I'm glad it's been of use :)

I'm sorry it's going too but needs must and the time has unfortunately come! Hopefully once the wedding is sorted I'll be looking at something VAG again.

Im actually the new owner of DGJ's cupra. Managed to save it from getting scrapped. This thread has been a great insight into the cars past. Its defiantly seen better days and is currently in a very bad shape with a ruined clutch. Im going to try my best to repair it and return it to what it once was.

Well im not too sure if i can still save it. It seems to have developed quite a few electrical issues that im not sure can be fixed. The alarm for a start keeps going off. I thought this was because the battery was drained so i got a new battery. However the alarm went off as soon as i attached this battery and i cannot find away to stop it. It even kept going off when the battery was fully disconnected, how this works puzzles me. It must have its own power supply or can run off the residual energy in the system. It finally stopped but i have no clue as to why it starts or how to fix it.

Do you have a scan tool, this should tell you what errors the car is reporting.

I do, i scanned it and it showed alot of short to ground issues, though i dont wanna but the battery in again and have to deal with the car alarm just to scan it
