Ceramic coating worth it If it lasts 3 years+. 1 year not worth it. A good safe proper wash each week and a wax every few months is
The look can be equalled or bettered with other products that can be easily removed if you get bored or want to try something else. A good Glaze and the right top coat will easily match a ceramic for a lot less money.

Ive used ceramics before but ultimately just covered them with other things later for various reasons. The hardness they give is good though.
That's good to know thanks. As long as I'm not doing any damage I'll give it a go. It's a well respected detailers so it will be ok.

My only slight regret now is I didn't get magnetic grey. It looks special on those pics. I drove to different dealers to see the colours but the salesman was off who had the mag grey. The midnight black did look nice though with the black calipers and privacy glass. Then the brake lights set it off nice.

Im really loving the magnetic grey. Its a lot more 'interesting' than most greys. It sparkles more and picks up colours from its surroundings. Looking out the window now, the front of the car has a blue tint from the sky, the back a more orangey one from lights. The grey Mazda next to it is just 'meh' grey.

Im not a big fan of this solid grey trend, or any of the light solid colours, especially the pastel blue which used to be popular on base model Escorts in the 80s, but seems to be popular now on sportier models. As metallics go Magnetic is lovely. The Mazda is just a really boring grey, the flake is small and its not very exciting, it doesnt even qualify as anthracite or gun metal.

Does anyone think the current/previous Cupras with 290/300 bhp will start to be the last of performance hatches as we know now that emissions and WLTP start to take over along with the introduction of hybrids etc.?

I think Hybrid will soon become the norm, its been touted on every revision of every hot hatch as of late, (Cupra Mk4, Golf Gti/R MK7.5/8, AMG 35/45) but hasn't shown its head!

Audi have gone to diesel on major S models, but miraculously have kept the 400bhp on the RS3, even with the WLTP, so maybe given time manufacturers can work it out. I Think they were thrown into the deep end with the GPF/PPF or whatever you call it!

Think they are yes. Definitely a car to keep as long as possible in my eyes.

I agree it's really nice. I took the plunge today and cancelled my ceramic coating and spent £250 on full kit of detailing products and I'll do it myself with no worries or risk. And also save myself £400 after buying the kit. So good advice taken gents thanks.
And when on earth will i get a different answer than. Its arrived at our UK port and awaiting transportation. Transportation order has been placed. It's like pulling teeth.

Beware though when you get the car from the dealer it will not be “perfect paint” it’ll at least have wash marring from the useless garage valeters: i would recommend you ask the dealer not to touch the car in terms of “sale prep” and leave all protective films on for you to take off if you want to prep and coat it yourself!

Anyone that has ordered their Cupra 290 through Nationwide Vehicle Contracts got a delivery to dealer date of 7/7/2019, recurved their paperwork through to sign yet?

Just I’m still waiting for mine and wondered if this was the norm. Thanks

Things will suddenly happen very quickly mate.

Enjoy the anticipation, it’s one of the best bits of the whole process. Before you know it, it will be sat on your drive :)

Anticipation Haha its killing me and my marriage. I know be here soon. I've just been quiet at work getting home at dinner time most days. To much time on my hands. So so excited though. Any tips for running it in. I've read bits but as with everything opinions vary.

Hahah yeah my Wife was ready to kill me if I mentioned my car, I know how that feels.

Regards running it in opinions vary and I’m by no means an expert.
I asked the dealer about it and he said don’t worry and just enjoy the car. He said the worst thing you can do is just poodle around for a thousand miles at low revs then suddenly start loading the engine after that. It needs to be run in using a range of engine loads.
Obviously be sensible with it and don’t rag it everywhere, and obviously wait for oil to get up to temp.
Standard stuff really.

I've had my Cupra 290 now for about 3 weeks and done around 600 miles, I wouldn't say I've ragged it as a car with 290bhp is quite hard to rag but I have definitely driven it fairly hard when it's up to temperature (as much as I can legally!) since I got it past maybe 30 miles or so. Dealer advised I didn't need to run it in but whilst I will look after it, it is on a 3 year lease. Super happy with the car!
