Haha I’m all in one piece and the Mrs actually encouraged me to make the purchase!!! I’ve got some more goodies to show I just need to put together a proper post for the thread.

Apologies for the lack of updates. The Leon has been through some pretty drastic visual improvements!!! Picking up from where I left off!!

Bare with me this is a long one!!

The Mk2 was starting to look a little too ordinary in my eyes so I decided to chuck myself in the deep end and sort that out with a colour change!!

I opted for Hexis gloss Nardo grey! I have wrapped a few smaller pieces in my time but this was way out of my comfort zone! I started by giving the car a thorough de-contamination wash and started stripping it down.

So now for the wrapping This was seriously stressful, the better half was getting sick of my swearing

I ordered some Wider Fibreglass wings some time ago and finally got round to collecting/trial fitting them!!

Unfortunately these had to go off to the bodyshop to be reworked as the fitment wasn’t great!!!

Now back to the wrapping.

2 big parcels got delivered after waiting very patiently!! I spent ages looking for these parts and fortunately I connected with a fellow Mk2 owner from Russia who helped me track them down!!

Can you imagine how excited I was to see these?

But I still need to find the weight of the stock bonnet and boot, the carbon bonnet weighs 3.8kg and the carbon boot is 2.9kg. Unfortunately because I’m a fussy bugger they needed abit of rework being race car parts they aren’t made with the aim of being beautiful! lol I also wanted to retain all the factory parts, lights, boot handle, gas struts, bump stops, window, boot trim etc.

I put the boot on hold until Paul from Glasstec was able squeeze me in and transfer the glass from the stock boot to the carbon beauty!!

Next I was trial fitting the Carbon bonnet.

Seeing the front end all built up made me a little excited!! also I added an aero/canard front splitter.

8f80ecb8cb5cdbaa0beb8d76e2630643.jpg

I felt the front end needed something a little extra to add to the aggressive look!! I know canards aren’t to everyone’s taste but I think they really work on the car!!

18b51e2182f6ffb12fc9580e2fadc7c3.jpg

Some genuine side skirts fitted, I decided these would have been a nightmare to wrap so I chose to have them painted, the bodyshop managed to get a 98% colour match to the vinyl!!

After fitting the bonnet once it was all bolted up and latched in the front felt abit floaty and as use the car on track ( not as much as I’d like) I didn’t want to take the chance of the bonnet flying off so I decided to fit some genuine Aerocatch bonnet catches, this part scared the absolute S**t out of me drill through my new carbon bonnet ahhh!!

It’s starting to look like it’s ‘finished’.......

66b64b498436de607ccfb462dd2ed189.jpg

A Little touch, I removed the old Speedhunters sun strip and fitted a matt black sun strip with a gloss black “powered by the turbo engineers” decal.

e37e07b5d04b76b10ec1c60effa9008d.jpg

And the bonnet has been removed and sent to the bodyshop to be lacquered, once it’s back and fitted Paul from Protect your paintwork will be installing some clear paint protection film to help prevent any stone chips.

And the final update for now, I’ve changed up the engine cover abit and had the orange parts sprayed Nardo grey to match the bodywork.

I've just read this start to finish and what a build! Loving the new colour!

The removal of the reflectors on the rear bumper, is that legal/mot permissable?

What did you use to hold the mesh in place?

Thanks

Mine has passed an Mot since I removed them, there are reflectors in the rear light units so I personally don’t see an issue.

I used some Wurth bond and seal to how the mesh in place.

Wow, that looks amazing! Bet you'll turn heads as you roll that down the street! Did you do all the wrapping yourself? Must have taken some patience. Also... is it a trick of the light or have you carbon wrapped the bonnet strut as well?
