I decided not to fill that gap up, there is a reason they want cooling going through there still. I did however open up the other side.just did the modification on stock airbox with k&n air panel filter.
First i remove plastic in air box (check: http://www.mygolfmk7.com/2018/09/stock-airbox-modification/ )
Then i install this plastic from golf GTE

Where did you get it done & how much? I want to get it done eventually.
Finally bite the bullet and had my 184 tdi remapped. Goes like **** off a shovel wish I got it done sooner. I've lost the dyno print out but it's now 220bhp
GTE is a 1.4 100hp engine helped by electric motors that are potentially charged from the mains as well as when driving. I would say the GTE’s main focus is economy, not all out performance. Blocking the hole is probably better for airflow as not needed for cooling of the engine bay.And why they block on same engine in gte?i tried to figure out...
I did block it.dont think any problem in uk(not that hot)
I believe same horses as my 1.4 act.GTE is a 1.4 100hp engine helped by electric motors that are potentially charged from the mains as well as when driving. However as you say the tuners airboxs block the hole.
Same engine block maybe, likely a smaller turbo if only 100hp compared to your 148, so it will be running cooler.I believe same horses as my 1.4 act.
The internal combustion engine is a 1.4-litre, four-cylinder turbo petrol unit, good for 148bhp, and the gearbox is a six-speed DSG. The 75kW (101bhp) electric motor sits between the two and drives through the gearbox.
Anyway i will go for two weeks eu trip middle of summer so i can confirm if any trouble.
