I have a seat Leon fr tdi pd170. No fault codes on vagcom.
It is constantly underpowered, there is no loss of power all of a sudden but constantly feels slow and sluggish. I have changed the high pressure fuel pump and no lunch. I have changed the maf sensor and no luck either. What would be the next thing to do??

Many thanks Zak Gelsthorpe

I’d check all the turbo pipes for leaks. If airs getting in where it shouldn’t then it’ll cause issues. Failing that could be a turbo issue?

I have vcds I’m not 100% sure how to use it but I’ll give it a go and see what the outcomes are. I got told it was fuel related then been told it’s boost related by a bag specialist.

Many thanks for the responds

Mines pants below about 3000 rpm or above 80mph. I have read this is a sign the injectors need replaced or refurbed so if I get my car back at any time that'll be my next job

Mine is constantly underpowered, it’s just slow, like a old fiesta 1.25 is quicker that’s how slow it is mate. It’s perfetic

Does it smoke loads too?
Almost sounds like the turbo isn't boosting at all.
It smokes slightly when it’s cold and when when picking speed up while
It’s cold but that’s it, not a huge amount. It does pull when the turbo kicks in around 1,800 2k revs. It just is no where near how much it should pull. It’s been to a bag specialist and the actual boost and requested boost is ever so slightly less. Nothing that would cause it to be this much underpowered. They said it is seriously underpowered I just thought it was slightly underpowered

Any signs of oil/dirt or wetness around any of the intercooler hose joins?? Thats a good sign of a boost leak.

Has the car been mapped by anyone?

I can’t seem to see of any oil or grime around the intercooler, and I’m not aware of it been mapped, the garage have just said for me to leave it as it is for a month and see if it gets any worse. I don’t really want to invade it breaks something else. Also the dpf clogs up really quick but the garage said it does that because the car isn’t running right???

Basic things, air filter clean? Fuel filter ok? Try some injector cleaner through the fuel to see if that helps, is the fuel consumption high? Throttle linkage ok? Sorry but I find that often the simple things are overlooked.

All the filters are clean as it’s been for a service about 2k miles ago when I brought it. I am getting 30/36mpg round town. seems reasonable for a so-called 170 bhp diesel. I have just had the dpf out and get blanked and mapped seems fine now but it could possibly still be underpowered

Yep get it on the rollers and see what it makes. Where are you located?? someone nearby might be able to recommend a place to go.

If you've got VCDS I assume you've done a full fault-code read??
