So your Mk 2 has appreciated and is now worth more than you bought it for?My Mk2 R is still going for good money and it's 8 years old... Which is a cupra with different coloured bits on it lol

Under the test of time I think so... Is there an 8 year old car thats under £30k new that's above its new price tag now?So your Mk 2 has appreciated and is now worth more than you bought it for?
'Definitely' going to appreciate and become a modern classic... when it is essentially a regular Cupra with tacky different coloured bits... right, sure.
I would assume any car limited to 799 units, properly looked after would either at least retain its value or appreciate in 10 - 20 years time. Especially something like the Cupra R. We’ll pick this up in 2028 and see then lol.

It makes the remaining ones rarerMinus at least one written off. And I’m sure more will follow suit.
And even rarer in your colour. Do you know how many were Black? It makes the remaining ones rarer
I've heard that there are 3 in black...but not 100% sure how true that is.And even rarer in your colour. Do you know how many were Black?

That is not a classic car situation, that is an unscrupulous selle trying to takerThese are definitely a future classic, 100%. The focus rs500 was essentially a Matt black focus rs and limited to 500 (Not sure how many in UK?) and there was one on eBay the other day for something like 65k. I can guarantee they didn't cost that new lol. A limited run of 24 of the cupra r's for the UK, that price is going nowhere but up. Cars don't become classics just because they're amazing cars, which these are too, but also down to rarity and as there's only 24 from new you're already onto a winner.

To a degree I'd agree with you but the point still stands, the price will be inflated because of the rarity of the car in the first place. That marginal increase in cost now is exasperated over time, the longer it is, the more it goes up because the rarer still the car gets. Look at escort cosworths, they're silly money now and they were essentially mass produced. There is no doubting that the cupra r is a future classic and also the carbon edition to an extent. That is not a classic car situation, that is an unscrupulous selle trying to taker
advantage of any idiot who would pay double for what as you say is a standard focus Rs with matt black paint.
There is definitely doubt, but I admire your and everyone else's optimism. There is no doubting that the cupra r is a future classic and also the carbon edition to an extent.

There's no doubt that seat will more than likely release a MK4 Cupra R though, I know Cupra is becoming its own brand but this will still more than likely kill the price of this MK3 Leon Cupra R. Could be in years to come, may not happen seeming Cupra is going to be individual, but just my thoughts! To a degree I'd agree with you but the point still stands, the price will be inflated because of the rarity of the car in the first place. Difference being that will be a cupra leon. Nothing other than half or more of the value of the Cupra R that you randomly decide to store for 10 years, I guess! I like the Cupra very much but there is no logical or rational reason at all to think the Cupra R will become a future 'classic'... it has an engine shared with multiple other (arguably superior) cars, a tacky copper-accentuated design that is about as far away from tasteful as you can get, and has nothing else in particular going for it such as brand or heritage other than that there were a limited number of models made. That does not make a classic car make.Difference being that will be a cupra leon. This will be the last generation of leon cupra r.
Obviously the whole future classic thing is up for debate, no-one will really know the answer for another 10-15 maybe even 20 years. If I had the money I'd likely invest it one, use it for a while and hope I could get a new car further down the line without having to part with the r and then store it and see what happens. Nothing lost that way.
