Hi, i fitted a used powersteering pump to my 2015 ibiza about 2-3 weeks ago, i got it re coded about 3 days ago. I washed my car today and since the radio was off ( i usually play music) i noticed a electrical humming noise when turning my steering wheel from inside the cabin of the car. Is this normal or is this a sign that the pump is going to brake again?? Thanks alot

it's normal, you didn't hear the humming before because it was working at 50%...

I dont hear it inside the cabin with windows closed though...

are you using the correct oil?

I havent been out in my car today but yesterday it was a very very slight humming noise in the cabin (i removed my soundproofing from the bonnet though) and yeah im deffo using the correct oil as i got it from seat themselves and its the correct number.

I just wanted to know if this was normal or not but ill go out and check on it later and report back. Cheers mate

i can sorta hear it with the windows up but my sound proofing is off so maybe thats allowing more sound to come through to the cabin??

there are many factors
i guess it also depends if you live in a city or quiet place.

I can hear it on my driveway and thats about it but i live in a very quiet area, I suppose it could be anything but i hadnt heard it before coding. was that due to it working at only 50%??

i think I can hear it inside the car when I'm parking in my parents house, which is in a very quiet area in a small village...

most of the time I am in a city and can't hear it.

my car doesn't have insulation from stock, i fitted one 6 months ago though.

this is mine:

before coding the pump it was working at less than 50%, the pump reaches 3000rpm... when turning the steering and it is 1250 when not turning. without coding it was always at 1250... here is a excel of how it works:

https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B5pgma4HYX7dNFdtWTdUUXpkNnBvbkNwV3FzcGhZbzhnTUo0/view

you can see Angular Velocity (steering input º/s) vs rpm of the pump

check if this thing is correctly closed and placed... if not some power steering pressure line could be touching metal and ressonating, it happened to me...

if you don't know where that object is, 3:40 in this video, and you dont need to dissassemble anything to see it, it is visible bewind the wheel.
