IbizafrSY4... there should be a few exhaust specialists round your way maybe powerflow etc, they should have some quad tips that you could choose from as well, and you could also try eBay.. your the customer so if you explain what you want doing they will listen to you, you just have to trust these people sometimes they have probably done what you are asking them to do a few dozen times.. I a bit ocd when it comes to this sort of thing especially to my car so just have a little faith you won’t regret it.

Can I just ask how you fitted your old Akrapovic tips? Was it a trip to an exhaust specialist or can they be replaced yourself? Looking at mine, I *think* they're permanently attached so would need to be cut off..?

That's great, thank you.

Although it means I'll probably have to stick with the original tips as it's a lease car..!! Cutting the exhaust for the res delete is one thing but I don't think I'll get away with welding some new tips on!

Yes there’s a powerflow in Shrewsbury a few miles from me and I did go there to get a back box delete on my Ibiza FR a few months ago, did a great job from what I can’t tell, just need to make sure everything is reversible as it is on PCP and will void the warranty but oh well I’ve spoken to my dealership and they said anything is fine as long as it is reversible at the end

Do you think a custom job would be equally as good as say a set of Miltek ones? Also don’t know the right dimensions and everything like that! I’m sure like you said though they could explain everything.

Cheers for the replies guys, always helpful on here

I'm sure if you took it to Powerflow and asked them to make you a custom exhaust they'd do as good a job (if not better) than a Milltek one as it would be custom made for your car. If you do go down that route, let me know how you get on!

Are you not allowed to mod away as long as everything is reversible? Although I have absolutely no idea if you can re weld the original set on actually

Is it literally just the name you’re paying for with these companies then? No difference in material or build quality do you reckon?

To be honest I didn't bother asking, I just went ahead with the res delete as I know it's easy to put back to stock. I'm also thinking about keeping the car at the end of the lease... I'm sure the original tips could be welded back on but it might look a bit messy..!

I think so... Most reputable exhaust specialists would be able to fabricate something very very similar although as I've never asked someone to do it I don't know how the price would compare with a Milltek/Scorpion etc..

Yeah never thought about that, but definitely considering keeping it at the end, touch wood nothing bad happens in the meantime so suppose wouldn’t be too much of a problem if circumstances don’t change and yeah will have to do a bit of research I suppose, cheers again

Tully1980/ lbizafrSY4.... I think with a exhaust specialist he will put his time and maybe a little bit of heart into fabricating you a piece of metal that will suit your vehicle that he will be proud of... he also has a reputation to consider.... with the big brands Milltek,Cobra, Scorpian etc if there is a problem with them they have the funds to just send you a new one.... so cost wise I don’t think there will be much difference in price... I actually got mine from a company in Germany.... researched them for a few months and wow what a absolutely fantastic piece of kit, wish I had done months ago..

Good thing about the quality being similar then, I will have to do my research then hopefully be able to get the resonator delete and the exhaust sorted on the same day

ibizafrSY4.... start of with the res delete and see how it goes from there...lots of people on this forum have had it done and from what I’ve read they all love it... if you don’t like it get it reversed and try the other option of the custom exhaust (which will be louder by the way) either way hope you enjoy it.. and remember drive it like you stole it ( sometimes)

Just disconnected mine on my 280 and have it booked in for a res delete on monday. I have to say it even makes the 280 sound better. I can actually hear the odd dsg fart instead of gran turismo playing in the cockpit. Looking forward to monday though. Hopefully it will put a smile on my face!

Oh it definitely will... I think I was literally laughing all the time for the first couple of days just because the res delete sounded so good..!

my stock 300 sounds really good without the soundaktor, the engine tone is actually very similar to what the soundaktor makes in sport mode
but without it it needs more beans and rpm to have similar

You will have to wave if you see a mystery blue Cupra 290 on a GY plate as i'm also based in Shrewsbury.

Back on topic. I tried Cupra mode out properly for the first time since picking the car up, it sounds alot like there is a small child behind the dash doing their best impression of a race car! Definitely going to need to look into getting it disconnected/turned off.

So, as some of you may already know from my ramblings on this forum, I’ve recently had a resonator delete fitted to my Cupra 300 DSG.

The one and only downside I found was that the soundaktor was just making the car far too noisy inside, especially as I have the car permanently in Cupra mode (but with the normal gearbox). This became more apparent when I went on a long motorway trip last weekend.

I stumbled across a few threads regarding the soundaktor, and to my surprise I found out that it is incredibly simple to deactivate without having to go through ODBEleven or similar. I know that this topic has been discussed previously but I thought I’d post a couple of photos just to show how easy it is, in case any of you are in the same boat! Now all I have is the sweet, sweet NATURAL sound of an unresonated exhaust

1. Open the bonnet.

2. Remove the rubber strip at the bottom of the plastic tray underneath the windscreen:

3. Remove the three metal clips which hold the plastic tray in place (I used some needle nose pliers):

4. Pull up the foam stuff (yes, technical term). There are 2 plastic clips which can be insterted back afterwards:

5. Reach under the plastic tray and locate the soundaktor box (it’s in the driver side corner and it says soundaktor on the top!).

6. Pull the connector out of the soundaktor box.

7. Replace the foam, then the three metal clips, then finally the rubber strip.

Congratulations. You now have an interior which doesn’t sound like a PlayStation game every time you put your foot down..!!

Obviously, it’s just as easy to reconnect it should you wish to do so.

I’ve just taken mine for a quick drive and the difference is fantastic. I can still hear the exhaust but it’s out the back, where it should be..! More importantly, it makes absolutely no difference to how the car sounds from the outside
