Driver reversed into my 1.5 FR

Was sitting at traffic lights on red and an old guy in a motability ford Kuga engaged reverse instead of drive and smashed into my car 3 times. Luckily there was nobody behind me. Ibiza held up well to the battering, everything is working and it’s still driving ok. It’s even damaged the drivers door so it’s not opening easily.

Seat Ensurance have got a Mercedes C class being delivered to me tomorrow and my car is going to the body shop at Seat Crewe.

Luckily I’d just had a dashcam fitted so got the whole thing on camera.

One of the reasons I got one fitted. Don’t trust anyone on the road... unless they have a SEATCupra.NET sticker in or on their car @Jimbobcook

Have a look at the Bkackvue ones. Wuite stealthy compared to nextbase. I’ll take a picture tomorrow to show you what I mean.

I rejected the Mercedes C class and they gave me an Audi A3 S-Line manual instead.

They gave me a Merc GLE350 for week until they had an Audi S3 available

It's a 190PS 2.0 TSI with manual gearbox. It also has virtual cockpit which I wanted to try out. It's quite a decent car but lacking stuff that my Ibiza FR has. No reversing camera, no keyless, no front parking sensors, no adaptive cruise etc.

A couple of pictures showing my installed Blackvue 590W Dashcam.

Internal view. Can’t be seen from the Drivers side so not distraction. Picture taken from Passenger side.

External view. Overcast day but hopefully the picture shows how stealthy the cam is. I actually need to replace the sticky mount as that’s the main thing that gives it away.

Full HD camera and 60fps. Doesn’t have GPS but I wasn’t bothered about that as I didn’t want my Speed recorded .

What an idiot. Thats why I have a dashcam also! I've got the blackvue dr 750s dual cam. Included with an external battery pack from blackvue.

Keeping the car in D with the brakes on is supposed to increase wear on the clutch pack. Moving to N prevents it.

It hasn't hurt the torque converter on any auto I've had?

Numpty in this post probably wasn't in N since he ended up in R after the lights changed.

He admitted fault straight away. I didn’t tell him I had a dashcam until later on.

The repair bill is £3100 + VAT.

That's something at least, not many honest people out there these days. Wow, although, I remember being quoted £1200 just for a bumper. On the bright side though I've got my dashcam up and running now thanks to this thread!

I've not been massively impressed with Seat Ensurance so far. They give you an online tracking link for your repair but in typical Seat UK fashion it doesn't work and suggests you phone a number. They haven't contacted me much so far and it feels that I'm having to do all the legwork myself. I probably wouldn't bother with them in future and just go straight to my insurer.

That's a shame.

To be honest most of my calls were from the company that loaned me the courtesy car.
Performance car hire in my case.
They contacted me weekly and chased up the status of the repair.
I was in their courtesy car(s) for well over 2 months.

They were happy as the at fault insurer were picking up the tab. I was told it was well over £100 per day for the car

I was panicking at first and wanting more updates, but looking back it was all effortless my side and at no additional cost.

They are essentially a man in the middle though, working with both the insurer and the garage.
So it adds an extra layer of complexity regarding updates.

The bonus for me was a like for like vehicle free of charge until my repair was perfect.

They even did the drop offs and pick ups from/ at locations/times of my choosing.
