Sorry if this is a common question.. but has anyone bought the maxton design spoiler extension? Looks like a nice wee addition for £100.. not sure if it will look cheap & tacky. Looking to get a front splitter too!

Cheers

I’ve got the Maxton on mine and a fair few others I’ve seen have too. It’s a nice little addition :)

Yes, it will look like what it is, a stick on bit of cheap & tacky plastic.
Of course lots of people like cheap and tacky plastic so.....

And if everyone was the same, life would be boring and we'd may as well all be driving beige cars that can't do more than 70 mph. Or driving crappy looking white cars with black wheels ;)

Clearly it’s not to everyone’s taste

But then if everyone liked the same things, life would be very boring indeed.

Stealing my line there matey, but then it is a great line and 100% true.

On a separate note, does anyone know if the spoiler on the estate is the same as the 5 door? Wouldn't mind making my white car with black wheels look a bit more cheap&tacky/awesome* with one of these myself.

*Delete as appropriate.

Sigh...
Its always the way on forums...

Guy posts about something, asks specifically 'will it look cheap and tacky'

Gets answers both positive and negative (as that's the way the world is), then of course the keyboard clan have to come out :bleh:

I think for me the thing with it is you can just see from a mile off that its a stuck on bit of cheap plastic. If it were painted gloss, or in some way looked a bit less '****' it might work, but as it is its exactly as the OP described it

I wasn’t disagreeing with your point btw - it’s hard to get tone over text (which is why I put a smiley face)

But yeah, some people like that stuff, some people don’t.

What @paddy6789 said tone and voice and all that!! My message was meant to be tongue in cheek (my cars white with black wheels haha).:)

I think they look pretty good if they are matched to the colour sheme of the car. The finish on them is gloss black, the fitment is pretty good also. There's 2 versions, one for the Cupra spoiler and one for the FR. They fit both SC, 5dr for the respective models. Everyone who has seen it on the car seems to agree that it suits the car very well and I have friends very picky of their cars.

I think half the problem with it for me is the way it looks quite clearly stuck on with that lip, that and the fact you know its just the one they used to make for the Mk 2 recycled for the Mk 3, so the contour is all wrong, it doesnt match or extend any of the lines of the standard spoiler... (probably because it was designed to fit the lines of the Mk2).

there are other options out there though.... not that these are any less cheap and tacky looking IMO

I asked them and they said they are SC and 5dr only. They do not fit the ST apparently
