Navigation System ?

Hello,

I nearly ordered a Seat Ibiza FR in Cyprus, but in the last moment (after they quoted a price to me with the options I wanted and some discount), and despite what is shown in the price list they gave me, they told me that the Navigation System is no longer optional for the FR and that I have to buy it if I want the FR trim.

In their price list the Navigation System is shown as a €550 option and they said that they would give it to me for €400. Note that the "Media System Plus" with the 8" screen was already part of what I was getting. The only additional thing for those €400 is the Nav Sat.

Is the Sat Nav worth €400? I am already getting "Full Link" and I was planning to use Android Auto for navigation whenever I need such functionality (not very often). From what I read you have to keep paying to keep the maps of the Sat Nav updated, and even then they might not be as up to date as the ones of Google.

Anybody has compared Seat's Sat Nav with Android Auto/ Car Play? Any way I can justify this €400 "forced option"?

Thanks

I wouldn't pay extra for inbuilt Sat Nav. Google Maps through Full Link is more accurate and always up-to-date.

You've pretty-much answered your own question anyway:

Thanks. Yes, basically I am trying to see if I can find a good reason to justify it since I either have to pay for the €400 or I am not getting the FR.

It seems that Android Auto might use the GPS of the car if available, which should offer better signal than the GPS of the phone. Anybody can confirm that this is the case with the Seat? If this is the case then that Sat Nav "option" might not be totally useless (but still probably not worth €400)

If it is not possible to order an FR without Sat Nav then it is a standard feature not an option, so they cannot charge extra for it.

Typical shady practices by Unicars. They haven't got a clue what they're doing. Went to them to by a MK2 Cupra off them before I bought my Mitsubishi Evolution. Dislike their working practices.

In the price list I was given (which can be found here: https://autokinito.com.cy/assets/unicars/seat/SEAT-IBIZA.pdf ) the price for the FR is €16.100 and the "Navigation System" is shown as a €550 option. To the FR trim I added "Full Link" and "Vision Plus Pack", they gave me a quote with a final discounted price and I told them I will think about it. When I was driving home they called me and said that they were just informed that the "Navigation System" is now required for the FR and that they can add it for €400 :censored:

I checked the price list for all the cars of the VW Group that they represent, and in no trim of any car is the navigation included in the price. It is always an extra option, even for the most expensive Audis. So I am having trouble to believe that they decided to add the Navigation (and increase the price) of the Ibiza FR trim, just after they made me a quote. This does seem like a very shady practice indeed.

Apart from the car itself the importers are also important and I don't want to get involved with them if they are dishonest. Do you know if the ones that bring KIA are any better?

If it makes you feel any better, the same car in the UK is currently about €17,500, but we do get Sat Nav and Full Link as standard.

After. The RRP is about €20,300 but heavy discounts are common here.

OK, there is nowhere that much discount for most small cars here (with a few exceptions). For Ibiza FR (115hp Auto) with the Full Link, the Vision Plus Pack and the Navigation "non-option" the final price was €16.200 on the road, and the first service for free.
