Trust me that is not the half of it. I ordered at the end of August and build was week 51, planned delivery for January. So I dropped a little email in at the start of december to ask about the car. I hadn't even had a notification of delay until this point and the dealer replies saying, its too early to provide a build date but the car will be with us in April!!

GREAT!

I'm not sure i would have been that patient to be honest (8 months is pretty crazy to wait for a SEAT).

Sounds like a total sh!t storm! It doesn't surprise me though. The whole system seems completely broken from the experiences on here and my own personal debacle.
Yeah, the last PCH contract was done directly through the dealership with a stock car and that was straightforward with good service.

The issue started when VWFS contacted me last summer in July. They said that they were aware of my contract ending in November and wanted to make the process of getting a new car even simpler :)

They advised that I ordered through them and they intern would work with my nominated dealership to get my order sorted.

For the finance team at seat they said this was a relatively new service. You could tell the inexperience as they knew very little about the cars and up and coming features.

They essentially took the code from the build I made online and gave me a price.

Originally they included side skirts in my build with a fixed price. They have since said it wasn't something they could have done as they wouldn't have been able to include the fitting and painting charges without speaking to my nominated dealership first. However I have the emails that state otherwise.

Yesterday I was told that if I ordered the side skirts from the dealership with my new car I may unable to fit them as it's a lease.

I was then told I would need to remove them before I handed back - which I would normally understand with unofficial aftermarket parts or modifications. Strange though as they were the official parts and originally ordered through SEAT finance , they included them in an order for me (without stating this).

Anyway, I'm left waiting to find out whether I have a car on order or if an order needs to be placed.

If an order needs to be placed I need confirmation of the same price as the prices have changed since last year.

If it wasn't for the fact that I got a £250 cheque, the permission to keep hold of the 280 a little longer at a heavily discounted price and a great offer on the 300, the customer service would have been enough to leave Seat.

Sounds like a massive pain in the ass all that. I wasn't in a rush to get a new car as we were planning on having 1 car in the family until May - I just jumped on this because of the great deal. I have just held my breath in dealing with the awful customer service just to get the deal and the car then I'm sorted for 2 years. I thought of putting all of the sh!t/impersonal/un-accurate/un-interested service I've had into an email and sending it over to the company or seat UK but I'm not sure anyone would care.

Tbh honest, both SEAT CS and vwfs/seat finance have both mentioned the word "franchise" when dealing with me.

They have suggested that I take up concerns with the dealership, before really helping, with regards to my concerns.

You're going to get a different experience from dealership to dealership or even salesperson to salesperson.

Once it's sorted I'll be sending an email but like you I can't imagine much will come from it.

If it were me I would be sending something to the major motoring magazines and any other outlet that may be interested in the god awful mess which appears to be SEAT Customer Support, most of these mags have readers letter sections etc, maybe SEAT will get a little more interested in the consumer if it goes public.

No cheque for me. Raheel said I’m only entitled to a £250 voucher or a free first service. He isn’t able to explain why some who haven’t had such long waits have got it though.

Really?? The lack of consistency is shocking!

Well look on the bright side mate, at least you have the shiny new car and a "gesture" of goodwill.

I may have earned my cheque with a 40+ week wait if my order wasn't submitted. I'd rather be in your position :)

Could have done with the new 5 door though, as we have a new arrival due in the next 6 weeks.

Still no word from the dealership since it was confirmed as delivered last week. Seat CS said that the they spoke to the dealership yesterday and I should have already received a call.

Exactly that mate. I can’t complain really. It just bugs me how he deny anyone has received a cheque, then confirms people have, but says I’m not eligible and isn’t able to explain why.

Order Update...!

Factory confirmation on 8th Jan, rung Seat today and i have a confirmed week 12 build! Dealer has previously said it went from 16 to 22 and back to 12, so clearly its pretty random until confirmation comes through.

Does build week 12 mean week commencing 19th March?? If so, how long should i expect from here to collection please - is it about 4 weeks?

My Factory confirmation was between 8th and 15th Jan Just got me email from dealer today confirmed week 13 build.
So should arrive mid to late April. Dealer said he would check ship when it leaves factory. :)
Leon 1.4 ST. 30/3 alloys.

Who on this thread are due to pick up their new cars in the next few days? Where are you picking up from and is the collection going to be affected by the snow?

I am due to pick mine up from JCB SEAT in Kent on Saturday and then will have the long drive back to Derby. I know Kent is one of the areas that have had the most snow in the past 48hrs. I am just hoping the roads will be clear on Saturday.

I’m about an hour away from JCB SEAT. The moan arterial roads are fine. There is heavy snow predicted all day tomorrow and Friday but I still think the main routes will be fine.

Your shiny new Leon might need a good wash after though! I had mine detailed, 2 stage machine polished and ceramic coated last week but she’s filthy already!!

I used to live in Kent, ashford/Maidstone always used to get lots of snow, when no one else did. Butttt from derby to ashford it will be m1, m25 and then m20 all major roads so should be ok. The dealership is only a short trip from the junction.

My appointment is tomorrow at 10:00 - we have around 8" of snow but it's stopped now and main (suburban) roads don't look too bad - will see what happens overnight but my dealer can be flexible for Fri or Sat too. Just been out and dug out the 280 so it doesn't freeze into an igloo by the morning!

As you know I'm collecting from JCB on Saturday as well and the weather is starting to worry me! I'm driving back to Sheffield so I'm really hoping the main motorway routes stay clear. Being slow is fine, but not closed or too icy!!

Personally i would see if they can reschedule pick up. You'll be driving a new car, you're not entirely familiar with that you have waited months for. Last thing u would want to do is damage it on day 1!

I'm lucky that I'll be familiar with it as I had a Leon before and I've been driving a courtesy Golf GTI for the past 6 weeks :D

It's the expense of getting there to be honest. Managed to book a train about a month ago for about £29 but tickets are like £80+ now :(

Good luck mate if you're going and safe travels.

Wasn't able to shift my Leon this morning.
Buses have even called time around here.
