An update on mine, Originally told 22-24 weeks (ordered 25th August). After contacting SEAT UK i was given an unconfirmed build week of 47, yay only 13 weeks from order. Just talked with the dealer to see if it was built last week and good news again its left the factory and is on route with it expected to be at the dealers in two weeks.

If all goes well i should be picking up the car after circa 16 weeks so 6-8 weeks better than estimate, hopefully the delays on CUPRA's are reducing

Your car go by train or ship?

Now moved up to unconfirmed build week 3 and added ACC for £125, even though it says £150 in the brochure, dealer confirmed it was £125???????

You were all picking the wrong options.

In seriousness SEAT are not the only manufacturer trying this. They are basically pre-empting orders based on sales market data and ordering the parts and booking the build schedule before the customer even arrives at a dealer. It's only doable with higher sales and confidence in volume forecast planning.

So is this something they are charging extra for or am I missing the point?

It was a trial on Austria and now rolled out to Germany and Spain. It's generated 300 sales during the trial by letting the customer get their car in 21 days instead of 90. In truth it's a car that was never sold when planned but built with the expectation of the sale. Like anything in business it has its risks - including dealers being encouraged to sell the spec they have confirmed in pipeline.

It costs nothing extra to the end customer.

dieselface, thanks for that YT link it's very interesting.

I can see how it would benefit the dealers and Seat, the customer usually wants their new car as quick as possible, well us men do!

Only problem I can see is that it might encourage the salesman/woman to try to 'up-sell' cars with options as they will be available sooner but at an extra cost to the customer.

There's an Android Auto app in the Google play store - I'm not sure what it does but I'll let you know after I've picked it up later. I've set it up to the point where it asks you to connect it to the car.

It provides an interface to access a number of functions on your phone and bring them to the screen, for example if you couldn't be bothered to update your SatNav maps or just don't like the SEAT version you can use google maps and route details with voice to your screen instead, also (but I have not tested yet) it allows texts to your phone to come onto the screen and apparently you can reply via voice recognition.

As my current cars PCP deal finishes the end of May next year, I've re-ordered my Cupra
Sticking with mystery blue
I suppose this way I'm guaranteed the digital dash & illuminated door sills

I've been quoted April/May delivery which will fit perfectly in for me TBH

Got the same deal as I did for my August order too

My dealer has just phoned - it will be there tomorrow, so they just need to fit my spoiler and side blades, then I can go and collect her on Sunday!

Picked it up last night. Absolutely loving it. Got everything set up now including the logos for the DAB stations and the Android Auto. It's also got the illuminated FR logo on the sills which was unexpected. I'm sure there's plenty more to explore.

Looking forward to a milder day to give it a proper wash and dry

After ordering in early September :-

'Hi,

The car now has a build date scheduled for the week commencing 8th January. The car should take around 3-4 weeks to arrive, so we should see it by early February. If this should change I will let you know.

Kind regards,
Chris Clark
Local Business Development Manager
Arnold Clark SEAT'

Now I just need to ask if it will have the digital cockpit, that would be nice!
