Howdy all.

Now ive got past the 15 post limit i think i can properly introduce myself and show off my new wheels alongside i few snaps of the cars that came before!

So i would definitely call myself a petrol head, not as much as i used to be when i was younger, many was the time i would fritter away the hours reading top gear and fine tuning my cars on Gran Turismo (ps1 of course...).

My first car was a 1 litre vauxhall corsa, which was probably ideal since it wouldnt go fast at all! in fact it sounded like a washing machine full of angry bees at full tilt but she got me where i needed to including backwards and forwards across the pennines many times during 2 years in Uni.

Eventually in 2003 i swapped for a year old MK1 focus. Id always liked the look of the focus and by then id become quite jaded by the Vauxhall badge. I even decided to go a bit mad on the mods on my mk1 focus especially when i got my first proper job that paid well. We are talking peak max power/Fast and the furious.

Eventually i moved onto a MK2 diesel focus, it felt a bit more "grown up" and for the miles i was doing in a new job it made financial sense. I bought the car new and had it straight from december 2007 to just last month. Sadly issues started to crop up, it needed new trailing arms at the last MOT due to the shocking state of roads around here and then the DPF clogged up totally. I eneded spendning nearly a grand on it in the space of 3 months so as much as it was loved, enough was enough.

So it was time for a change and after much research i settled on the Leon MK3, it looked great and it sounded like a reliable purchase! Though they were a bit rare i only found 4 cars matching my needs in a 30 mile radius of Merseyside! eventually i settled on the car, but it needed work. Check on the photos of just some of the abuse the interior had.

I struck a deal with the dealer that if they would sort out all the damage i would but the car off them, there and then that day. The car was £8695. I also asked them to chuck in a spare wheel, we settled on me paying £70 for the wheel and they paid £100. She is only 2 years 3 months old and had approx 23k on the clock when i picked her up. a bit of a bargain i thought!

So what have i got planned for it? well until the warranty runs out nowt. I would like a SEAT spoiler just to finish off the rear, cosmetically i did think of having the roof wrapped black and maybe the wheels painted white? I also know a guy who remaps cars and does a lot of VAG cars so i may even pay him a visit eventually.

So far though ownership has been great, the boot is a fraction smaller and ive noticed the rear bench doest flip over which is a bit of a bummer but no big problem. Took me ages to get to grips with the new radio But so far so good. Though on cold days im sure ill miss the Ford quickclear windscreen. why others dont have that is beyond me!

cheers for looking!

Two reasons, Ford patented it so no one else can use it - and it's LUDICROUSLY expensive. I often think Ford would make a mint if they leased out their technology, that is to say get other manufacturers to pay a fee for using it, but I guess either Ford have run the numbers or other companies don't want to pay Ford!

Congats on the new car!

Cheers! I'm sure i have seen a similar tech on other cars, indeed can be expensive if the windscreen needs changing. On the old Ford Focus Owners Club i used to be a full time member of we discussed the patent and we all seemed to agree it had probably lapsed by now?

That patent expired years ago. There's plenty of cars with them.

My sister's fiesta had heated windscreen brilliant idea... I have heated mirrors which I think are stupid, they've never frozen.
