I have just heard from my dealer. Mine is due into port soon - it's possible that I may get it before the end of the month. I just have to get the money to them so they can tax it in my name.

So I picked mine up this morning, looks very pretty in Desire Red, my first impression when comparing it to my Octavia VRS diesel is every action seems effortless where as the 184 unit always feels like it's working hard.

Stupid acceleration, it's in another world compared to the 220PS GTI I had, that 80PS and extra torque make so much difference!

Me and my Cupra are gonna get on just fine!
Pictures please!

I was advised last Thursday, 23rd March, that there was good news, my car is nearly here! This despite that the previously advised production week is this one, week commencing 27th March. Would I pay for it now so that I could get it registered under the current tax regime rather than the new one from 1st April, which in the short term would save me a few quid. So far I have paid approximately 60% of the purchase price, but no one, dealer or SEAT UK, are able to tell me where the car is; has it left the factory, has it left Spain, what ship is it on, has it arrived in U.K. (Sheerness is where it's due), when will it arrive at the dealer, when can I collect?
As you can imagine it's rather frustrating, but today I spent some time investigating shipping traffic.
Eventually I found a ship that departed from Barcelona on 21st March, travelling via Tangiers, Le Havre, Zeebrugge, Sheerness and due in Port of Tyne on 31st March. It's called HOEGH KUNSAN, so I am hoping that it is the ship that mine is on. There don't seem to be any others en route currently.
My hope is that having been told my car was on the way, and that production week was to be this week, that what was really meant was that it was due in the U.K. this week. If so, perhaps it can be registered before the end of the month, and maybe I can collect it next week.
Here's hoping!

I have been told that Portbury (Bristol) is also used a lot for southern cars. Ships around include Autoprogress, which has just left Portbury, it departed from Santander on Saturday night and arrived yesterday morning.
The other is Hoegh Xiamen which left Barcelona 1103 yesterday and should be at Portbury around 1900 Friday night.

So it really is down to luck if I save the extra £315 in tax !:-o

Unfortunately I can't see you saving the tax, if it's only due in on Friday evening that's the 31st and the cut off..

Bear in mind though, that after the extra tax you'll pay in the first year, your tax will then drop to £140 whereas the Cupras registered now will still be £185. So dependant on how long you keep the car you could well be better off in the long run.

As a used car, people would probably favour buying yours too as it'll be cheaper.

Good points Phil, already resided to the extra inital cost, hadn't thought about the long term saving :D

Just heard the car is on Progress Ace which left Barcelona 0437 today, going to Zeebrugge due 0500 on 3rd April and then onto Sheerness on the 7th April :D

How have you managed to get such detailed information? I've been struggling to get any details at all, although this morning when I told my dealer that perhaps mine is on the Hoegh Kunsan which is currently in Zeebrugge his response was: "I believe that the ship should port overnight".

Shortly after that I received an email from SEAT UK:

Hello Huw,
The wheels are fitted. The lights are tested. The final coat of paint is dry. Your new SEAT Leon ST CUPRA is ready to leave the factory and head to Hartwell SEAT Oxford. Interestingly, your lovely new car travels by train – the most efficient and caring way of getting it to you quickly.
