Well I have just bought a 2004 seat Leon SX 1.6 16v (BCB) last week the engine light has came on, i have plugged it into diagnostics and have quite a few fault codes, had it into my friends garage and we're no nearer to the cause of the problem.

I'm having low/dim lights at low revs, and the power steering cut out on me once at low revs leaving the steering wheel unmovable restarting the car fixed this.

All the Earth's have been checked and a brand new fully charged battery has been installed, but we're still scratching our heads as to what the problem is, anyway the fault codes are as follows, if anyone could offer any advice i would really appreciate it.

3 Faults Found:
17604 - Oxygen (Lambda) Sensor Heater Circuit: B1 S1: Electrical Malfunction

Hi mate, welcome to the forum.

The 3 engine codes relate to the lambda sensor before the cat. Either the wiring has broken somewhere or the sensor itself needs replacing. They will be the 3 codes that are triggering the engine light.

The 2 locking faults... The first one about the key i've had on my own car and i think is caused by the second code, which is almost certainly your drivers door lock module that needs replacing. (common fault) Guide here for you. http://forums.vwvortex.com/showthre...indow-regulator-clips-and-or-door-lock-module
I'd just buy a replacement from module ebay, they work fine and are a fraction of the price of a genuine item. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/FRONT-RIG...l:Leon&hash=item2585c186ef:g:-7oAAOSwPYZU2jaA

The airbag code about "low power supply" is probably just because the battery has been disconected at some point.

Not sure about the codes for the outside air temp. Possibly the wiring, possibly the sensors or the earth points. As the fault is intermittant i'd delete the codes and see if they return before you worry about it. If you want to check it then it's by the passenger side fog light on the cupra's, i imagine it would be the same location on yours. Does the temp display on the rev counter work ok?

Hope that's some help for you.

Hi and thanks for the welcome, I have already ordered a replacement out air temp sensor and I'm expecting it tommorow, hopefully that sorts that issue out.

Would you happen to have a link to a wiring diagram for the mk1 leon so I know what wires to check for the lambda?

you right about the intermittent faults they go away when cleared apart from the following one's.

17604 - Oxygen (Lambda) Sensor Heater Circuit: B1 S1: Electrical Malfunction

What I did find strange is is vag-com seemed to crash when scanning auto HVAC and completely failed, coming up as an excessive comms error.

Lambda screwed open circuit, I cant post links yet being new, but I was wondering, would product code: 710770407 be a straight replace?

Just search the number on eurocarparts and you will go straight to to one I mean.

Not sure mate tbh, not got much experience of your engine. Eurocarparts will be able to confirm from your reg number i expect.
