After recently purchasing a 2014 Cupra 280 I felt that the exhaust note wasn't what is could potentially be. Therefore reading up on here I read a few posts where people had removed the middle silencer and this improved the over all sound from the 280.
Looking for a local exhaust place who could do this for me knowing it wasn't an expensive modification I had a search on google. I came across an exhaust company based on the Wirral that specialised in custom exhaust systems, mainly for racing cars but had produced some road car exhaust as well. In fact they had a section on their website advertising to borrow peoples cars so they could develop an exhaust for a specific car.
Looking down the list the Cupra was not on there, however being pushy and a bit optimistic I sent them an email to see if they were interested in developing one. They emailed back to my surprise saying they definitely were and asked if I would pop down with the car for an assessment. So about a month ago a drover over to the wirral for an assessment, they put it straight up on the ramp and said there was plenty of potential and that the stock system as we know is very restricted. As I don't drive the car much during the week being in a company said they could have the car for a full week to see what they could come up with.
I picked up the car on Saturday after the week of development and WOW what a difference, just what it should sound like and some. You can see yourself from the photos there is now no back box, a smaller middle silencer and a smaller front silencer with the option to remove the front silencer if you feel inclined. The system is full stainless steel and of very high quality, it is in fact now available to buy as a kit on their website with plenty more details about it. A video with follow shortly but enjoy the photos.
The company is called Cybox Exhaust Systems and the link is http://cybox.co.uk/product/seat-leon-cupra-r-280-cat-back-exhaust-system/
They were very helpful through the whole process and the person I dealt with was called Jerry.
Sorry about the essay just thought people would find the story interesting as I know there are off the self exhaust for the Cupra but as far as I can see it may be the first custom exhaust.
