EDIT 12.8 : Car has arrived to Finland. Local company is installing extra heater to it with mobile interface so I can heat my car anytime by using mobile phone. Also able to monitor temp and track my car with GPS if needed. I will get my car 30.9. Also ordered TRC Splitter from UK.

Just ordered my new car. It's my first Seat and also first Cupra. Going to update this message when I got my car later this year. Dealer (here in Finland where I live) told me that order times from factory could be 5 months so I will miss summer and cruising fun.

Specs of my car

MY16, Seat Leon Cupra 290, 5D, DSG
Color : Estrella silver P5P5 (in UK it's probably Ice Silver?)
Seats: Original ALCANTARA seats

Equipments:
CUPRA Black Line (in Finland this means Black side mirrors, Black Cupra text back of the car)
Electric Sunroof
Adaptive Cruise Control with Front Assist
Navi system
Camera back
SEAT FullLink (MirrorLink)
SEAT Sound System
Extra heater, Webasto 4 kW

Planned changes:
Remove Cupra text and logo back of the car
Painting crome exhaust pipes black (Foliatec EXHAUST PIPE 2C GLOSS SPRAY PAINT)
Painting break calipers with toxic green
Painting Seat and Cupra logos black (front grille)
Tint tail lights (black)
Wrapping roof to black (better match with sunroof)

Maybe?
Ordering OEM Side Skirts, which you can't order here Finland separately to your car as factory order.

Sounds good, looking forward to seeing a thread on this project, not a bad way to start your SEAT experience, mine was back in 1996 with a Biza GTI, quick in it's day.

So far my fastest own car has been Civic 1.8 petrol engine car. 140HP. No turbo and you had to really give RPM to it to get it going, but it was fun car to drive have to say.

Tomorrow I will talk with car sales and finalize my order. I have not been totally sure which color to chose to my car... darker grey or metallic silver. Probably going to take that silver one cause on it all black details would look better. Maybe change original 19" rims to something more personal.

Not sure how to kill time before getting the Cupra. I want it already :funk:

When I test drive Cupra at local store they did not have 5D versions, only ST. So I have no idea what kind of sound you get out from 290. I have watched probably all youtube videos I could find around 5D 290 to just get the idea.

Waiting sucks [:@]

So it's time to start planning more in details about a little tweaks I'm going to do to my new car when I get it (far too long time to wait..).

First thing is to get paint for exhaust pipes, those two crome ones back of the car. Why I want to paint them? Kinda like sleeper look and want to "hide" exhaust pipes so painting them darker (black) seems good way to do it.

I got whole idea from one forum member (Finnish VAG car forum). He had white Skoda Octavia vRS estate and had painted his car exhaust pipes. The finish look was really nice and I end up asking how he did it. Got help from him and painting is actually very easy in the end if you have right product to do it.

Here is pic from his car and end result. I think it's very nice!

Paint he was using: FOLIATEC Exhaust Pipe 2 Part Gloss Spray Paint Black 250ml
http://www.foliatec.co.uk/foliatec-exhaust-pipe-2-part-gloss-spray-paint-black-250ml/ and I'm planning to use same products.

Next story is about wrapping the roof (I will have sunroof so half of the roof)

I have 4 months time before my new car is coming so I can use this time to get all needed extra stuff for small things I'm planning to do to my Cupra.

Just ordered Toxic Green paint for break calipers and Black crome style paint for exhaust pipes. Green will be perfect for silver Cupra with black details. Red is in the end a bit boring cause all going to have it anyway.

Both paints are from Foliatec.

Ordered TRC frontlip about 2 weeks ago, probably going to get them in 2 weeks now.

Also found OEM AERO SIDE SKIRTS replicas from Poland (Ebay) price was 90€ without paint job done. Quality is totally unknown. They are on the way and I will post images and my opinion about them as soon I get them. Original side skirts cost here in Finland from dealer 560€ without paint job so price of replicas were really low (that is reason why quality worries me a bit).

Not sure how to put this but I do not get my car. Dealer premises had water accident in the warehouse where they kept my car. End result was that my car got water inside the cabin, motor, basically everywhere. So Finnish Seat importer said they wont give warranty to the car because of that -> no one want that car now. Not me, not dealer... well you get the picture. Now I need to do new factory order which means I need to wait new car 3-6 months. As some now already know facelift of Leon is near and it's hard to get any new 290 orders anymore. So it seems I need to take new facelift instead of this year model. Problem is that I do not know what is like... also you can do orders from it as late as next November.

and this happened 3 weeks before I would have the car. This totally sucks.

Anyway.. there is some hope even this is one big mess. Dealer had good insurance so I will have car for free until next factory order is delivered. Dealer had one Blue Cupra 290 5D which I will have asap. It's not totally same kind of car I had ordered but at least I will have the Cupra (free!).

Who would knew.... huoh...

That's pretty bad luck for everybody involved but especially you and more so after waiting all of this time. But at least your dealer has been good to you and given you a similar car on loan. Good luck with it all.
