Not following - the 0-60 times are the official Seat timings.

The other figures are from Autocar road tests - the 1.4 is the exact same engine as in the Polo GT Bluemotion.

Only saying with a difference of 192/150 ps -28% (and a similar difference in torque) you would expect a larger difference in the 0-100mph time.

I may try the EcoTrainer on my Monday journey to work and see how I get on!

In other news, I am absolutely loving the car. Love the Torque of the 1.0 TSI. Nice improvement on the old 1.2TSI.
The SEAT sound is amazing. Really good quality for the cost of it. That bass!! The DSG is lovely and silky smooth. Instant changes.

Does anyone think their car has a nice exhaust note? It's a lot nicer than the same exhaust on my old car. Don't know whether it has something to do with the DSG and what mode it's in? I have no idea about those things!

I agree - not sure where but 2-3 seconds to 100 is still decent improvement on the 1.4. Like you say might be ponies rather than horses!

Glad you're still pleased with it! Does it have a sub in the boot? Bass is ridiculous is mine without the pack! Really good system and i love carplay with apple music. Exhaust note is one of the few things I miss from the VXR tbh but it was never gunna be as nice! Overall much prefer this though.

The standard sound is actually pretty good so the Seat sound must be really good. I think mine has a decent exhaust note - nothing amazing but a decent rasp to it.

The manual box on mine is actually pretty sweet - short and precise. Would still have liked the DSG though.

Noticed a couple more things today - I have a thin wire running down the centre of the windscreen. At first I thought it was a crack but it's actually an embedded antenna wire for the headunit. Apparently it's a dual tuner and uses the antenna wire and the rear roof mounted unit for better reception.

Also the stop/start system - if you stop and the car shuts off the engine and you then open the drivers door you get a loud buzzer noise and the car is no longer able to start without you turning off and back on with the key. Every other car I have had would just restart the engine if you opened the door.

Yes Ive noticed that black line down the centre of the windscreen! I always just thought it was something to do with the rain/light sensor. Thanks for the heads up!

There is a sub in the spare wheel well yes, it's rather a powerful little system and packs quite a punch!

Agree - CarPlay and Apple Music is just so good. Never listened to so much music - some of the curated playlists are great at introducing new bands into my listening.

The Cupra is 6.7 to 60 - the 1.4 is 7.6.

0-60 times aren't a good benchmark for cars this quick, traction and gear ratios play a big part - I was referring to the 0-100mph times where things largely even out. Given that the Cupra has 28% more power and torque you would expect it to have a bigger advantage by 100mph than it apparently has.

I sold my 63 plate cupra yesterday (1.4 twincharged variant) and have driven the new 1.4 150bhp and the cupra behaved completely differently. It felt much quicker to be honest, probably as a result of the supercharger

Yes but the new cupra doesn't use that engine so it's hard to compare like for like unless anyone has the new Ibiza cupra.

Interesting. A while back I tried a Fabia VRS with the 170ps version of that engine and was very disappointed. I had expected instant response and no lag and -but it seemed rather flat. It had DSG and a ridiculously low first which might have influenced me. By contrast the ecotsi 1.4 seemed effortlessly urgent despite its very long gears.

What age was the fabia? Could have been an older CAVE engine but still shouldn't feel flat. The CTHE would have a 'kick' in throttle response between 5k-7k revs too. It was a great car. I've got nothing against the 1.4 150 though, I nearly bought one as I fancied a manual again but went for a fiesta ST instead lol

It was about 4 years ago - I was very attracted to the twin charger technology (given its subsequent problems I'm relieved I didn' t like it) and it was intended to fulfil exactly the same role as my forthcoming ST - small enough for my wife to do her shopping (she hates big cars) , big enough as a holiday vehicle for 4, and fast enough to be interesting.

I'm sure on paper and against the stopwatch it was faster than the ST - but it didn't seem that eager or much fun. In the end I bought Nissan Note for practical duties and a Suzuki Swift Sport for fun. But we really don't need 2 cars (and I have my own fun car as well - so we certainly don't need 3).

I wasn't abreast of all the twin charger issues then, so it could have been either CAVE or the CTHE variant.

I had a Fabia vRS a couple of years ago (with the later CTHE engine).
The performance and dsg box were great, the handling less so, although improved with uprated springs and a rear arb. However it was an oil user so I sold it at 2 years old because I did not want to risk serious engine issues.
The 1.4 in the Ibiza FR I have ordered will be free from engine problems...I hope!
I'm sure it will be plenty fast enough for the wife and she prefers a manual gearbox in any case.

I have just swapped my 13 plate Cupra for the new one and it feels quicker and the ride is better, loving the manual gearbox aswell. Old Cupra did 6.7 to 60 not timed this one yet waiting till I hit 1000 miles before I give it full beans.

Been wanting to give mine a good wash, wax and hoover since I got it. Comes up a treat with a layer of wax on the body and wheels :D:D
