It wasn't good - really wanted an Ford XR2 but they were hard to find - went for the MG thinking it would be similar. Ha ha. My daughters are getting towards driving age so I keep telling them not to bother with second hand and to lease a small car for under £100 a month as they will spend less on repairs, MOT's etc and have a decent car to boot.

Yeah you're right in telling them to do so, I strongly recommend it!

I've read this thread with interest as a potential owner of an Ibiza ST 1.4 150 FR
I normally buy nearly new to 1year old or so to save money but suitable cars are scarce,so I looked at new possibilities and was surprised to see that an on line search showed that big discounts were available.
An example (from a SEAT dealer not far away, so believable):

List price (including the options I picked) £18330
Discounted price £14429

Anyone else want to share their discount/buying experiences?

What options is that with? Have you tried car wow?

Just looked up list price for mine was £17275 and ended up paying £13131 so £4144 off list. Just bare in mind I was quoted 24 weeks delivery for a factory order.

Yes, that quote was Carwow.
I suppose quotes can differ because they seem to go to the dealers near you.
Mine (the best one) was from the dealer at Leicester.
Don't think I would want to wait 20 weeks tbh.

The 1.4 seems to be in short supply across the VW group - from the experiences on here if you seem to add any options the lead-time appears to be going out to 20-30 weeks!

Leicester were cheapest for me on car wow too however they wouldn't honour the seat deal of £500 off is you order in Feb and collect in March so I went with the next cheapest who were Gloucester.

When does it dock in the UK? Which dealer are you getting it from?

It docks in Sheerness on 27th apparently - my screenshot from dealer shows Tyne as the port so I assume it may move into there after this - not sure.

I'm in Hull - the dealer is Peter Stockhill.

I left the VW dealer alone when my wife's new Polo was being built etc, and when I eventually asked which boat it was on, was gutted to find that it had just left Holland on its way to Emden in Northern Germany! I could have spent weeks tracking it from South Africa and through the Med, I had been looking for on that site for a while but I had assumed that it would go round the bottom of Africa - wrong, these VW etc carrying boats go up docking at some Arab countries and then through the Suez canal - hours wasted looking at the wrong part of the seas, wife took the view that "it will arrive when it arrives" - but where is the fun in that?

Yup, sometimes life can be cruel!

I did discover a lot about what boats and types of boats use some of these ports in Africa though, mainly boring utility stuff like tugs etc!

Edit:- there was even a guy in Newcastle that showed us a link to the Tyneport camera and claimed he saw his boat coming in, I watched that for days, same picture every day - cruel, cruel, cruel!!
