Hey guys,

Just bought myself a Cupra ST 280 DSG 2016 a couple of month ago. The exhaust sound is to lame so I'm planning to do the middle-silencer delete.

Anyone done it on the 280 and have a good video of it?

Any pictures of them side by side to compare?

In this new superb video review, he says the only difference between 280 and 290 exhaust is that the middle silencer is gone. Correct?

Watched you're video before :) Will probably cut it and TIG weld a nice V-flange so it can be restored!

Sounds good! There's a new upload now on the same channel, it goes into depth on the exhaust with some footage :)

I came across a really nice vid the other day showing clearly how different (see: better) is the sound on the 290 can't seem to find it right now...

The 290 exhaust is how the Cupra should have left the factory in the first place. Has that extra character and bark that shows its a special model and not a baseline Leon which, admittedly, the looks struggle to ensure. That constant cracking in the last video must be something to do with his camera, it shouldn't do like that on steady throttle and it doesn't in any of the other videos I've seen.

Does anyone have any instructions (preferably with pictures) on how to remove the silencer? Been unhappy with the sound of my ST 280 since I picked it up!

Can't believe people would butcher their car just to make it sound like it has flatulence. Unless it's a V8 or similar just sounds rubbish.

It's pretty common actually on sports cars when the stock exhaust system disappoints... No need to do that on the 290 though. I think it's unfair really on SEAT's side towards the people that bought the 280 versions. Should have offered the upgrade to them as well if not for free, at least at a fraction of the actual cost.

agreed. I cant afford a V8 and love the sound of 290 for what it is, 1 more month until delivery weee. Cant imagine I would have bought a used/stock 280 instead and saw all these vids.
