Went to start my 12 plate ibiza FR today, it went through all the normal test lights on dash, I always wait for them, I turned the key in ignition, then a small clunk, dash lights off everything, no turn over of the engine.

I try it again and nothing, again no turn over from starter motor. The only thing that came back on was the millage screen in middle however clock shows 0:00 and trip data is 0 which is bit odd.

The head lights don't come on but some of the internal lights come on but are very faint and flicker. The boot I can't open as electronic lock doesn't engage and when I try to lock or unlock car the alarm goes off!??

The car was fine earlier today when used twice and showed no signs of issues. To me it sounds like catastrophic battery failure or something has drained battery completely however could it be anything else?

I'm gonna ring seat in morning but is there anything I can try in the meantime?

Mice trouble maybe? Daughter's late 2009 Ibiza has had its foam "blockers" at the side of the under bonnet area chewed while it was parked on driveway, my Audi S4 had same thing and it is parked in garage, so far wife's new Polo which uses slightly different foam material has escaped attentions of field mice, set two traps, got two mice, got ultra sonic thing to protect the engine area of my S4 - bonnet left open in garage, added four more traps baited with crunchy peanut butter and also satchet off bait/poison, now we'll see who wants to play in my garage area!

Other than that, battery failure, you really need to check present battery voltage and try to revive that battery - if it has failed dramatically, it will not come back up to a full charge due to plates shorting out internally, recently needed to replace late 2009 Ibiza battery as it tended to behave like you describe if left for 5>7 days, but not always, I have a Costco card so got a new battery there, cheaper than most places for a Bosch S4.

In the case of daughter's Ibiza, the battery can be fully charged and when using a conventional charger, took a long time to "fill" back up, which seemed to indicate that the battery was still potentially okay, ie could take a full charge, when I bought and used a CTEK tester-charger, when running the "start" test on that battery fully charged (removed from car - charged - refitted to car next day), it failed badly, ie could not hold the volts up high enough to keep the tester powered up, for me, with that knowledge, the next time it let me down, I replaced it, so I'll see how/if that sorts that problem out - or is there another issue lurking in the back ground, like the old BCM not always shutting down non essential power supplies.

Well bit of an update, seems that the battery was at fault, it must have failed when I was trying to turn it over the other day as nothing was last on in the prior 6 hours since it was last used.

Seems OK now with new battery and technician confirmed nothing was draining the battery during an amp test.
