Bought some drilled and grooved MTEC discs for my 05 LCR without doing research several months ago, Ive heard there not good and crack. Is it worth putting them on as I already have them or should I just sell them on and invest in a new set. Mate it all depends on how you drive, people that drive like nutters prob get cracked discs, slamming the brakes on all the time, they should be fine mate plus it will make ur car look nicer lol

If your on about my brakes, then to be honest mate I get none atol, if ur brakes ar sitting correct and not rubbing and your pistons are working the way they should be working then you should see as much brake dust, my pads were £11 fi euro car parts and there perfect, u wouldn't believe it but I'm being 100% honest mate I get no dust atol lol

And mind I've bad OCD so my car gets cleaned prob 5 days a week lol no time for the dust to collect lol

I have a diesel which has 288mm fronts and 232mm rears and had the MTECS. I preferred them over the OEM's (pagid) as they had much less brake fade, but I wouldn't get them drilled (only grooved) as the drilled parts developed cracks on mine, but I suspect that would happen with any drilled discs over time. Mine lasted for 40,000 miles before developing cracks and slightly warping on the front, so realistically they still lasted 2/3 of the life of the OEM pagids they replaced and cost 2/3 of the price at the time so no real loss. I wouldn't ever go back to OEM now and wouldn't get drilled discs again either, but if someone gave me drilled discs or they were half the price then I would. You should definitely try them out now you have them.

Thanks for taking the time to reply, I got the the discs when they were on offer so even if they last 10,000 miles I'll be happy.

Having difficulty now choosing pads, I'm going AMD next Tuesday so we'll see, either the MTEC with pagid pads (as I already have the discs) or just all round pagid. There doesn't seem to be any middle ground, I drive daily to work and back etc. I'll have a blast every now and again, I feel like buying some ds2500 is going to be overkill where as pagid is going to be a bit below par, can't seem to find any middle ground

I've got mtec discs on my LCR but I ordered dimpled not drilled to reduce any chance or cracking. I bought black diamond pads purely as they are low dust pads and far cheaper than ebc red stuff as they are only about £45. All good so far after a few thousand miles.

Haze, I'd say go for the discs and put on Pagid pads or if you want to spend a bit more then Ferrodo DS2500 pads.
I upgraded both front & rears on mine (I've got FR TDI) but have had the following:
OEM: 288 front / 232 rear - sh**e

Brembo: 312 front / 232rear - lots better than OEM with a little fade when pushed

Ultimax/Ferrodo/Brembo: 312 front DS2500 / 232 rear Brembo - good set up for 50/50 fast driving

Latest set-up: 312 Brembo Max discs with Pagid pads front / 256 Ultimax discs with Brembo pads rear - better than above as the pads warm up quicker and not as aggresive bite on the fronts

But the decision is up to you :p
