I have been looking at new bars because the Thule bars for my Ibiza will not adapt across to my Leon SC.

Thule do a complete kit but they only list the pig ugly black square bars for the SC

Has anyone used the Thule Wingbars on the SC or does anyone know why the Thule Wingbars will not fit a Leon SC ?

See what you mean I checked it both ways Car vs Rack and as you say only the square bar ones which look a pig !
May be worth ringing them

Just managed to get their "contact us" section to work so sent them a message.

Will post up their reply if they respond.

I would check with the Roofboxcompany. I recently bought some Atera bars and a bike rack from them and purchased over the phone as I needed some advice on fitting and suitability for my ST. They even offered discount as I bought a 'bundle', free delivery too. Great service.

Cheers - Been on their site - same offering as Thule direct - only the square bars.

I've got the Thule aero bars and feet Thule 754 for my Mk2 Leon. I was hoping that I could use the bars and would just need to order new feet for my Mk3 sSC Leon but not sure now.

You have the AEROBARS which are basically shaped alloy versions of the squarebar system ( aerobars are no longer sold )

5 door MK3 Leon - should be no problems - still uses the 754 rapid system - will need the 1707 foot kit.

3 door SC still uses the 754 rapid system - will need the 1707 foot kit but also needs the 774 short roof adaptor.

Have you looked at the genuine SEAT roof bars? I understand that these are the old Thule aero bars.

If you already have a footpack then Halfords have the aero bars rebranded as Exodus. Obviously you will still need to sort out the short roof kit, which the SEAT photos don't show?

I have a 5 door so can't verify this but spent a bit of time researching what was available for mine.

Thanks DEANO, I've got the SC, so looks like I need the 1707 foot kit and 774 short roof adaptor.

Well it looks like the Thule technical team are as much use as a chocolate fire guard.

Their response :

Thank you for your email and your interest in Thule Products.

I'm sorry but according to our Buyer's Guide on Thule.com, there is no compatibility with your 3drs Seat Leon and our products. I'm afraid there is no alternative possible either.

So according to their Muppet - the offered kit on the Thule website is not compatible with the 3 door Leon.

I got a set of bars with my FR SC straight from the SEAT dealer, and they are Thule-brand aero bars.

Are they just two bars or do they have the short roof adaptor included ?

And how does the rear bar attach - does it fit in between the fixed window and the body ?

Here's a pic to help. Don't know what you mean by short roof kit?

The rear glass is marked for where to mount them with ^^ if you look closely on your own.

They don't look too bad. have you colour coded them yourself ?

The short roof adaptor is what Thule suggest in order to make the bars fit the three door car without needing the clamps on the rear bar.

have a look here - http://roof-rack.ru/fotosait/Short_Roof_Adapter_774.jpg

Yeah, just vinyl wrapped them after something I saw on Instagram.

Ah, ok. Still looks like they clamp on but just more to the middle.

These were I think £180 from the dealers.

Would advise not to buy the Seat bike carrier though if for mountain bike as the front wheel 'cup' is quite narrow for wide tyres.
I bought Thule 591's and they fit any bike perfect!

I already have 4 x Thule 591 that used to go on top of the Ibiza SC - excellent bike carriers.

I just need to get bars for the Leon SC so we can get out and about again.

Wow I am glad I found this post..

I have e-mailed Thule twice now.. Once to check if they made a kit for the SC and the second time to check if I could use a short roof adaptor. Both times I got a definite no as the response..

So I decided I would just sell my Mk2 roof kit and be done with it and buy the kit for the SC from the dealer which for some reason I had in my mind that it was an Atera kit..

Doug_m would it be possible for you to confirm the imprinted numbers on the adaptor brackets please? This could save me an enormous amount of hassle (and cash) (I already have the 5 door adaptor kit as it was advertised as a 3 door kit in error) so maybe I have everything I need.. but would love to confirm what the brackets are.

My car is in for a service today so will try to ask the dealers for some help as well.. maybe get a nosey at what they offer.

The adaptor bracket being the black metal one that hooks under or the rubber footing?

The Parts guy at Seat Aberdeen is quite good, shame about the rest of the mob.

Yes that's it exactly.. the "fitting kit" is probably the right term.. I think they usually have the code of the kit stamped on the inside of them (so only possible to check if you don't have it mounted at the moment).. Hopefully your car is using the 1707 kit which is the 5 door brackets.

This is only my second service (on a service plan) and my last car was always serviced at Star Performance so it really has only been parts I have dealt with until I got the MK3

So far no issues.. they seem really nice so hopefully it stays like that :)
