Well I ordered mine on 19 March. And I've been allocated build week 20, which is w/c 11 May. To circumvent the two lines with delays at the moment, I opted for the CUPRA Black line and also the all black leather seats.

New Cupra

Hello all. Just picked up my new Cupra 280 5dr DSG on Wednesday. Couldn't wait the quoted 30 week wait, so got one already built and waiting at the dock. Got it in 2 weeks! Got a fantastic deal from Carwow and couldn't say no to the £1000 deposit contribution from Seat on their 0% HP deal. Had to drive to Brighton (from Canterbury) to get it, but well worth the drive for the discount.
Spec: Red, black line, sunroof and winter back. Did initially want a manual, but this car came with DSG. Happy I got the DSG in the end. Was coming from a Mini JCW. Quite different cars!
Already installed dashcam and Brodit holder for iPhone, but got them coming off the lighter socket. Will look to hardware them in sometime.

What a great buy, sounds like you are using the same supplying dealer as I will be when my St Cupra arrives hopefully late next month!

Lucky sod lol....may have a long wait for mine. Eastbourne Seat quoted me 4 months but it does sound more of a lottery when you do eventually get one. All good things come to those who wait....well that's what I keep telling myself! Enjoy your new motor drnt and yes, pics please.

Thanks all. The Mini JCW was a great car, but a really different car to the Cupra. The first thing I noted was the different suspension. Going over a pot hole in the Mini was painful, where the Cupra just glides over, even in Cupra mode. I think the drive was a bit more fun on the back roads in the Mini, but still getting used to the DSG box, so this might change. Also as a new car, I'm driving it like an old woman, as don't want to ding it in the first week! Am sure this will change once I get used to the change in size/handling/DSG.

As written before, don't drive it to slow...
When the oil is on temp you can use it sporty so that it get a proper run in
Afterwards let it cool down before you shut down the engine.

Running it in this way seems to have no oil usage in the TSI engine's

Dont run it in to slow!
When the engine is on temp (90°oil) you may use some power of the engine and go to -+ 5K revs. You also need to brake on the engine to get it properly run in.
When you run it in to slow, most engine have some oil usage.

Really? I'd be interested in the evidence. The manual says stay below 2/3rds revs until after 1000km. I must admit I was surprised as most cars don't need running in these days. Does anyone else have a view?

This "most cars don't need running in anymore" myth seems to come from so called experts on forums etc. The manual states the obvious as its new give it a bit of respect, they built it so follow the advice. Running in doesn't mean poodling about, just no max revs, or labouring the engine, 2/3 max speed is still pretty quick, and 2/3 revs still allows a quick getaway it's only 1000M, a very short time in the life of the car, but probably the most important.

Agree with Seastormer. Ive followed the manual when bedding in brand new cars in the past and never had any issues. I mean "dont go over 2/3 max speed" if you're doing over 100mph in the first 1k miles you're either a reporter or a tit. Same with the revs... i barely go over 3k as the engine has so much torque so for the first 1k again its easy to stick to the limit. even if you boot it and change at 3-4k each time you will still get upto silly speeds very fast!

What I've always done though is to "use" the engine, so dont sit in one gear all the time, so if you are going along the motorway in 6th, just drop it to 5th now and again to let the engine spin up and slow down a bit... just gets it working a bit.

Great - thanks. Maybe I misunderstood Kurtje, but as Seastormer says, there's a lot of opinion on these forums and it's not always possible to separate fact from opinion.... What you say makes good sense.

Forgot to mention using the gears more than usual, as I do most of my running in on country roads with loads of bends and hills which lend to lots of natural gear changes.

I always break in my car in the same way and did this with my 280 too.
First 180 miles i drove into the Eiffel where the Nurburgring is located.
Just floor it (full load) till 5500-6000rpm and then get off the throttle and slow down on the engine only without using the brakes.
Only this way the piston rings can set properly to ensure full sealing of the cilinder gainst the pistonhead.
My 280 used 200 mililiter oil the first 5000 miles and now at 21.000 miles takes none at all.
