I was planning on a few mods to my 1.6 ST TDI Sport rider and was wondering if anyone new if the new leon seats (preferably cupra) would fit into my ibiza, and whether the heated seats could still be used??

Many thanks.

The seats should be a straight swap if you can get/afford a set. I'm not too sure about the heated seats. Do you already have heated seats?

How much do you think they are?? I was going to ask seat unless you knew of a better place.

Yes I do so I would like to keep them.

Also would I need the rails too or can my Ibiza ones be used??

Like I said I've never done it. The seats I would image will be well over £1000 and then some if you're wanting ones with seat heaters in it. But please do give Seat a call I would love to know how much they quote you, there are companies that can source things a little bit cheaper but not that much cheaper.

What you need to do is get the part numbers for the rails. If the Cupra and the FR part numbers are the same, then you don't need rails otherwise you will. I would of thought that when you take out the seats from yours, you will see some sort of wiring that that will be for your seat heaters. I would of thought that part will be a simple unplug and plug into the new seats.

I'm pretty sure they will not be a straight swap! Just looking at the Leon seats I'm sure the runners are spaced further apart than in the Ibiza and also the Leon cabin is quite a bit wider than the Ibiza, so I suspect the seats will be wider. I would get the tape measure out first before committing to anything, I'm not saying it can't be done but it is not likely to be a simple swap over.

Haha! Sorry I miss read this. I thought the OP was talking about the Ibiza Cupra seats. My bad.

So I rang Seat, they don't sell whole seats and I would have to buy each part separately. The only seat they do do as a whole is a leather FR seat for the MK2 Leon, which is £1700 for both front seats I believe (not fitted).

I asked them about fitting a Leon seat in an Ibiza and they said the system does not show the dimensions of parts so they couldn't tell, so if some one has a Leon and they want to measure the seat and rails for me that would be helpful.

Ok, these measurements are from a Mk3 Leon SC.

The seat rails are 480mm long, the centres for the mounting holes are 360mm apart and the distance between the two rails (centre line to centre line of the rails) is 480mm.

Thank you,

The measurements for a mk5 ibiza st.

The seat rails are 410mm long, although the rails furthest from the doors are set further back. The centers for the mounting holes are 320mm apart and the distance between the two rails (centre line to centre line of the rails) is 470mm.

Looks like without custom rails they are not fitting.

I forgot to mention in the other post, the width of the leon seat at its widest point is 550mm. It would be worth measuring how much space there is in the Ibiza to see if it would physically fit in.

The width of an Ibiza seat is also 550mm, so the seat would fit in the gap, but it may catch on the center armrest.

I think if custom seat rails could be made or the mounting holes on the Leon could move, it may fit.
