Hi Jamie,

Well you have a few options:

1) Go aftermarket - You will need the new HU and either a double din or single din conversion/facia.

2) Keep existing HU and add a Bluetooth module to your car (goes under seat).
- You will need Wiring loom, about £50
- Microphone, about £15
- Bluetooth Module, about £100

3) Get an RNS 315 that has Bluetooth, this will also give you navigation and DAB. About £400
- Will need a Microphone and wiring £20
- DAB antenna £20 window mounted
- GPS antenna £10

Options 2 + 3 will require you to have options enabled on your car via VCDS to allow them to function correctly.

No worries. Yes the 315 will work perfectly. Although do remember it wont be just a case of dropping it in.

You will require the additional bits and stuff enabling via VCDS :)

I have looked at the 315 a few times, what has struck me is the relatively small screen for the size/cost of the unit, is this just me?

I did think that before i got it, but i really wanted DAB and only the latest version of the RNS510 comes with DAB built in, but costs more then £750.

After using the RNS315 the interface is nice and much faster then the clunky 510. Screen size is not an issue as the Sat Nav is spot on and also any route directions are displayed on the dahsboards MFD.

The RNS315 doesnt play DVDs so if this is what you want then the 315 is not for you.

Feature wise cant fault the 315, i went for the latest unit i could find so it is a "2.2" system and came with the latest firmware and Nav Maps.

Another thing to throw into the mix, as I'm really not fussed about Sat Nav, what about the RCD510? seem to be available obviously cheaper to inc the bluetooth module?

Anyone got opinions?

Just found this link through another thread

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/OEM-Origi...8?pt=UK_In_Car_Technology&hash=item3390b8f77a

You could go down that route.

The link you posted there is not an OEM UK/European version.

These are chinese ones which are different to our models. The interface is different and components are also different. Some have also said the FM radio refequencies are different and also the functions are different.

Hi looking to upgrade my 08 Leon stereo, was looking at the vw 510 setup but a bit pricey, a search on Amazon brought up this http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B00...200_QL40&qid=1415141152&sr=8-2#ref=mp_s_a_1_2
Looks a bit similar, I'm not really into the whole logistics and ins and outs of this kind of thing just hate listening to the shitty radio all day long, hence a dab/mp3 upgrade.
Any idea if this is more similar to the 315.....? Any good...? What other equipment would I need to complete the setup, ariel s etc, the car is standard atm. Thanks.

So if you retro fit an rns315 into a fl model leon, the steering wheel controls will work and the mfd will display the sat nav directions?

Hey I have been looking into doing something similar with my Lean FR 2011 as I have no Bluetooth, the satnav and DAB would be nice. Quite like the look of the RNS 315 route however just wondering who can enable these via VCDS (and what VCDS is?) and if the steering wheel controls will work as they should when all these options were added from the factory
Cheers in advance, Sam

Seat Media System - fitted fine no coding

Sampd170,

Mixed reviews with the RNS315, i spent months reading over the forums and getting lots of reviews from people, so bought a Seat Media System (2.2) from fleabay and it dropped into my Facelift 2009 FR without issue. All steering wheel and MFD linked up worked straight away, was really chuffed as had a previous 2007 FR and the older RNS310 i had in that needed coded.

Moved onto a Golf GTD now (great engine) and have my genuine SEAT RNS315 v2 with DAB, great condition and all the mic, gps and dab aerial/leads. Anyone interested PM me for a price.

Interested in a price - don't think I can PM yet, or I'm missing something obvious!

I upgraded from that head unit to a RNS-510 (a VW unit).
My car came with bluetooth so it was literally plug & play and adjusting the settings via VCDS to tell the car it had that unit installed so that everything worked with the MFD & steering wheel buttons.

Plus adjusting the climate control setting and turning on/off air circulation comes up on the unit too

If you don't have Bluetooth then you want an all in one unit such as a Kenwood DNX520 VBT or an RCD/RNS unit.
