Hi,

I have had a problem with the radio reception in my Cupra for a while. I think it was because I left the aerial in the flat position for a while after having a roof box on and I thought that the base had corroded.

I have checked the aerial base and had it out of the car and it all looks ok. I have replaced the antenna with a cheapish one from ebay and I have now have changed the head unit and wired in a booster but the reception is still rubbish

The unit i bought is a pioneer and it had an ISO connector in the box, there was a blue wire with remote on coming from the back of the head unit with a bullet type connector on and another wire that had a sticker on saying remote, I have connected this to the blue wire from the iso connector, and then connected the booster blue wire to the stickered bit of the spare wire, is this correct?

I am at a loss now as to what to change now to get this working, anyone got any ideas please?

could the base of the aerial on the roof still be the culprit even though it looks ok? could it be the actual antenna I have bought is rubbish? I had cut the wire part off the standard aerial years ago and the radio was fine

Any help would be great, been doing me head in for ages and now that i have bought a new head unit its even worse.

I also pushed the radio back into the slot and cut the bluetooth mic wire in 2 on Friday night so had to order another one of those!

Cheers

I will have a look at that, does that include a new base as well? or does it just connect to the existing base on the car? Cheers

sorry to ask again but you mean cut the bottom of the new antenna so that it fits into the original base? is the screw not as long as the standard antenna?

I have taken off the new aerial antenna i bought and the socket that it screws into is now rusty? I think it may be at fault too as well as having a shoddy aerial antenna. I think I will try and get my hands on a new base and antenna from a scrappy to see if this will solve the issue, then if so I'll upgrade tot he antenna you have as it looks smart.

have you checked the booster mounted under the aerial base ,http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/showthread.php?t=348535

I took it off but it didn't look like any of the pic's I have seen on this site. I have just been tot he scrappy at dinenr time and got a new mast from a citreon and a new base plate from a leon, all of the VAG cars didnt have any antennas on them. connected it up quickly and tested ok, Will fully secure it for the drive home and test fully. then if thats ok I will see about getting a new base and mast that looks better than it does now.

Cheers for the help
