What would you say is a fair price for having 4 tyres mounted on alloys, no fitment to a car?
The seat dealership has quoted me £48 inc. VAT, but cannot fit me in on a saturday (when i can next make it down, as i work during the week) for a month or so's time. Anyone had any experience of the dealers doing this, do they do a decent job?
My other option, is to get a guy who i typically always goto for work, independent garage, i know he does a top job, but its a 45 min drive away. He has quoted me £60 inc. VAT for the lot. Can do this for me tomorrow...
Ive never had to pay for just fitment before, and i appreciate alot of places dont like to do it incase they wreck the tyre on mounting (so ive been told) so im unsure on the typical cost for this. Is the Seat dealer doing me a good deal, or is Seat charging book price and my independent garage is adding abit on top since they arent making anything from wheels/tyres from me (Seat already got the sale with the alloys).
Have had bad experience with another garage fixing a puncture previously (when it shouldnt have been fixed - too close to outer edge), then when they re-mounted the tyre they didn't balance it up again, so it vibrated like mad at speed (still to this day they swear it doesnt need to be done), they then told me to move that tyre to the back to fix the vibration. To top it all off, they mounted my alloy in the tyre machine wrong, used the clamps u should use for steels and left me with 4 sets of gripper marks on the inside of the wheel!
So, should i hold out for my Seat dealer to do the job - pay less but they could mess it up. Or drive 1.5 hours round trip to get a garage i trust to do the work for slightly more, but i get them done tomorrow - lol! Also, how long does it take to do 4 wheels, Seat rekon its an hour job
Thoughts?
Thanks,
Ben
